Chris Jericho told The Score this week that The Rock headlining WrestleMania 28 is "almost like he's playing in the games and not playing in the practices. He's got that main event spot at WrestleMania without having to do house shows."
Uh, yes.
He's The Rock. You know, the costar of the biggest box office movie success of all time this month. The guy who is recognized as one of the three or four biggest stars of the last 25 years in this industry.
Jericho thinks Vince McMahon should present this scenario to Mr. Johnson: "Hey, Dwayne, you're great and all, but you can't headline WrestleMania 28 unless you're willing to pay your dues and work house shows like everyone else is going to do before WrestleMania 28. Or else, I'm sorry to say, we won't be using you at WrestleMania 28 next year."
Really, Chris? This isn't Batista coming back and refusing to work house shows (or not being asked to) before getting a big main event match against WWE's top star at WrestleMania. This is The Rock.
He also said this, the second-strangest statement from him this week:
"It (the build-up to WM28) might be a little long, but if anything, it's a little sad because it takes away some of that mysticism of who's going to be in the main event of WrestleMania. What happens if, eight months from now, someone is really, really hot and should be in that position, but that position is already taken. What do you do?"
So Chris believes that come January, there's even a one percent chance someone in the pipeline now (working house shows, of course) is going to be better positioned to be John Cena's opponent than The Rock is? Or he thinks by next January, someone besides John Cena - the undisputed top star of WWE - would be a better opponent for The Rock?
This is just a head-scratchingly odd.
