TNA Bound for Glory PPV Results
October 20, 2013
San Diego, Calif.
Report by James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor
TNA's one-hour Bound for Glory pre-game show started with Jeremy Borash standing backstage to start the show. JB brought in TNA president Dixie Carter to cut a promo on A.J. Styles. Dixie killed 'em with kindness and plugged the No DQ stipulation for Styles vs. Bully Ray for the TNA Title in the PPV main event.
Ringside: Mike Tenay and Taz were shown ringside to hype the show. Tenay said doors just opened and the crowd is filling in. A giant empty chair was in the middle of the camera shot behind Taz and Tenay, who then ran down the PPV line-up. Tenay then narrated clips of various wrestlers arriving at the building for the PPV.
Backstage: JB brought in the four teams in the #1 contender gauntlet match. It will be Chavo & Hernandez starting off vs. Daniels & Kazarian, Eric Young & Joseph Park entering third, and the Bro-Mans fourth.
[Commercial Break]
Prior to the gauntlet match, TNA showed clips of Kurt Angle's Hall of Fame induction last night, Angle re-uniting with the Main Event Mafia in the locker room, and a hype video for the Ultimate X "All-Star" match opening the live PPV.
A -- TAG TEAM #1 CONTENDER GAUNTLET MATCH -- Winning team gets Tag Title shot on BFG PPV
Phase One was Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero vs. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. Hernandez and Chavo tried to fire up the crowd in attendance with high-flying offense leading to commercial.
[Commercial Break]
Back from break, Hernandez ran over Kaz with a giant Pounce that rocked Kaz out of the ring. But, Daniels low-bridged Hernandez, sending him flying to the outside. Back in the ring, Chavo snapped off Three Amigos suplexes before going up-top. But, with the ref pre-occupied, Kaz shoved Chavo off the top rope to the mat. This allowed Daniels to roll up Chavo with a handful of tights for the pin and the fall, popping the fans taking up the front rows facing the hard camera.
*** Chavo & Hernandez eliminated at 7:42 ***
Eric Young and Joseph Park entered next to battle Daniels and Kazarian. Another ref distraction allowed Daniels to chopblock Park, allowing Kaz to fall on top of Park for a two count. Bad Influence then began working on Park, but couldn't put him away. The pre-show cut to break with Park reeling.
[Commercial Break]
Back from break, Park hot-tagged EY right on cue. Young cleaned house on Daniels and Kazarian, then all four men found themselves in the ring. Then, Daniels got splatted to allow EY and Park to secure the fall.
*** Bad Influence eliminated at 17:06 ***
Post-match: EY and Park celebrated too early, allowing Bad Influence to attack the winners of the fall from behind. Kaz dropped EY with his reverse Tombstone finisher, then Daniels posted Park on the outside. Ref Brian Hebner called for help for Park, who sold being out cold on the floor. Saxophone music then brought out the Bro-Mans (Jessie and Robbie E.) along with their new associate, Mr. Olympia.
The Bro-Mans celebrated too early about this situation with EY and Park seemingly knocked out via the post-match attack. Park was dragged away up the entrance ramp, but then he turned around and shot a goofy look with his lip, which was covered in red. Park kept on going, seemingly leaving EY alone in the ring.
Once the bell sounded for the last fall, EY kicked out of a series of pin attempts. Bro-Mans went to work on EY, trying to put him away, but Young kicked to kick out of pins. EY made a comeback, then delivered a top-rope elbow to Robbie E., but Jessie broke up the pin. Bro-Mans double-teamed EY, then Robbie pinned Young to secure the victory, drawing groans from the crowd.
WINNERS: Bro-Mans at 22:14 to become #1 contenders to the TNA Tag Titles. It will be GunStorm vs. Bro-Mans for the Tag Titles on the actual PPV.
[Commercial Break]
Back from break, Eric Young was looking for Joseph Park in the backstage area, only to find a blood-stained handprint on a wall. EY stopped in his tracks and told the cameraman to back up, suggesting Park (or Abyss) was on the other side of the hallway wall.
Video Package: Bully vs. Styles hype for the PPV main event tonight.
For the final segment of the pre-show, TNA World Hvt. champion Bully Ray was introduced to the ring. Bully came out on-stage to refute the belief that Aces & Eights is dead, ready to implode, and just about him. Bully said that's exactly what he wants the people to think because tonight is about a re-birth. Ray claimed to be bound for greatness and Aces & Eights are once again bound for glory.
End of the pre-show. Not quite. Something was happening backstage. TNA president Dixie Carter approached Bully Ray to make sure that tonight will be Styles's last night in this company. Bully smiled and walked off, leaving Dixie to force a quizzical look.
