- The Hardy vs. Aries main event was a great ladder match. Very destructive to their bodies and too many risks taken, but they managed to survive at least without immediate serious injury. Two superb athletes who also came up with some new spots.

- Interesting finish to Storm vs. Roode vs. Styles in the #1 contender match in that on Thursday's Impact, Storm vowed that if he could pin either opponent, he'd easily choose Roode. In this case, he had Roode down but still chose to pin Styles after the Last Call Superkick. The match itself was very good, with a strong effort from everyone and a nice pace start to finish.

- Samoa Joe vs. Magnus was a good opening match. About what you'd expect out of these two, and a good step in the build of Magnus into more than a lower card placeholder. A faster build would be my preference given his upside, but he looked good hear and is establishing he's a strong singles wrestler who can look like he belongs in the ring with Joe.

- Kurt Angle vs. Devon, which was in the semi-main event slot, was acceptable only. Devon still doesn't come across as a main event level heel at this point, though. He's doing fine in this role, but Aces & Eights seemed destined for something bigger than this and that, along with such a high slot on the card, sets the bar higher than Devon can reach right now. A rudimentary match with a decent pace, but hardly an adrenaline rush of action and drama.

- RVD vs. Joey Ryan was a solid match. RVD continues to be slowed by age and excess weight, so his flashy moves seem a little sludgy. Ryan knows his '70s porn character well and play the part effectively.

- Was this the first TNA PPV without Tenay in the lead announcing position?
