WWE Main Event Results
December 16, 2014
Taped in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

Main Event opening rolled. Cole welcomed the audience to Main Event live on the Network. The Miz and Damien Mizdow made their way to the ring for Miz TV.

Miz introduced Naomi to the ring. Naomi said she was glad to be here on Main Event, but her and Miz are not friends. She said that she sees straight through Miz and knows that he is a phony. Miz complimented Naomi and said that he is for real. Naomi lashed out at Miz and said he has never followed through with his promises. Miz said that he could offer her a Divas championship match tonight on Smackdown, but he understands if Naomi has to get permission from Jimmy Uso first. The Usos made their way down the aisle while Miz and Mizdow fled the ring.

Jimmy said that Naomi needs nothing from Miz because she has all the support she needs right here. Miz said that he wants to see Naomi succeed and it's too bad that Jimmy doesn't want the same.

Announcers: Cole discussed the returns of Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho on Raw.

[Break]

The New Day made their way to the ring for their upcoming match. Their opponents tonight are Cesaro and Tyson Kidd.

1 -- NEW DAY (XAVIER WOODS & KOFI KINGSTON w/Big E.) vs. CESARO & TYSON KIDD (w/Natalya)

Woods started the match against Cesaro. Both men went back and forth. Kofi and Tyson tagged in. Kofi took down Tyson and went for a quick pin. Woods came back in but Tyson took control with a few shoulder blocks. Woods escaped and landed a dropkick and went for the pin. Kofi tagged in and hit a quick cross body. He knocked Tyson over top rope. New Day then both hit front flips to the outside on Cesaro and Kidd. Cesaro knocked Woods off the apron and Kidd took control. Cesaro tagged and both men stomped on Kofi.

[Break]

Tyson wrapped up Kofi in the corner amd stomped his chest. Cesaro hit a few uppercuts on Kofi. Cesaro tossed Kofi then tagged in Tyson. Cesaro and Kidd kept tagging back and forth and dominated Kofi. Cesaro knocked Woods off the corner and went for the big swing on Kofi. Kofi finally tagged in Woods and he exploded on Kidd. Woods got distracted and Kidd went for a roll up. Roll ups traded back and forth. Kofi went to the top and stomped on Kidds chest for the win.

WINNER: New Day at 11:34.

[JD's Reax: The crowd got into the match towards the end, but this match went five minutes too long. Cesaro and Kidd are a random pairing because management doesn't know what to do with either guy. The team doesn't have any chemistry and I hope they go their separate ways very soon.]

[Break]

Backstage: Paige was playing chess with Erick Rowan. Titus O'Neil interrupted and said that Rowan isn't smart. Titus said because he is a college graduate he is smarter than everyone else. Titus proved he didn't know how to play and ran away.

[JD's Reax: WWE just stripped Woods's role in the New Day as the smart guy college graduate and gave it to Titus. Clearly because Smackdown is live tonight, McMahon has his hands all over Main Event.]

The Raw Rebound aired highlighting Jericho and Lesnar's returns.

[Break]

Backstage: Naomi apologized to Miz. Miz said that she needs to control her husband otherwise all her dreams with go away.

Emma was dancing in the ring until her opponent Paige made her entrance.

2 -- PAIGE vs. EMMA

Emma was dancing and pushed Paige. Paige fell over Emma. Emma spanked Paige then got up and pushed over Emma. Paige kneed Emma's face then pulled at her arms. Emma tried to fight back but Paige kicked her down. Paige spanked Emma then Emma went for a roll-up. Paige kicked out and hit a clothesline. Paige threw Emma in the corner. Emma hit a few clotheslines then wrapped her up in the ropes. Paige super kicked Emma and locked in the PTO for the win.

WINNER: Paige via submission at 4:57.

[Break]

Titus joined Saxton and Cole on commentary. Rowan made his way to the ring.

3 -- ERICK ROWAN vs. KANE

Rowan punched Kane and knocked him out of the ring. Rowan smacked Kane onto the apron and railing. Back in the ring, Rowan body slammed. Kane made a comeback and DDTed Rowan. (The announcers have no interest in this match, by the way.) Kane put on a headlock and Rowan countered and suplexed Kane. Rowan hit a full nelson slam and both men slowly got back to their feet. Rowan head butted Kane followed by a clothesline. Rowan booted Kane while on the top rope. Kane pushed off Rowan and hit a clothesline from the top. Rowan hit a spin kick to knock down Kane. Rowan smashed Kane into the announce table and knocked water into Titus's suit. Kane then hit a chokeslam on Rowan for the win.

WINNER: Kane at 7:41 with a chokeslam.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Not a whole lot to say about this show other than the lack of match quality. The main event was what most expected it to be which was two big men just lumbering around the ring. The focus for the writers here was clearly for Smackdown later tonight and not a lot of thought was put into Main Event.
