WWE Main Event
October 14, 2014
Live from Birmingham, Ala.
Aired on WWE Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

Main Event opened with no pyro to Michael Cole introducing the audience until the Miz's music began. Miz without Damien Mizdow began to make his way to the ring for a Miz TV segment. The camera cut to Cole and Saxton discussing Miz's quest to gain the United States championship from Sheamus. Then played a short video package of the rivalry between Miz and Sheamus.

Miz in the ring thanked everyone and touted how he beat Sheamus twice the past two weeks on Raw but yet he still doesn't have the title because he was snubbed. He then invited Sheamus to ring and encouraged the fans to cheer.

Sheamus's music played but out came Damien Mizdow dressed as Sheamus. He was wearing a bright red wig and dyed his beard read. He had on white under armour to like like Sheamus' skin and he was wearing a Mattel US championship belt. Mizdow spoke in his best Irish accent but it came off more like a Scottish mixed with Scandinavian accent. He then said the Miz is much better than him and The Miz deserves to be the champion and not some "pasty petrified pretender who was actually once mistaken for a fast food clown." He then handed over the fake title and posed with the Miz. Sheamus' music then interrupts them.

Sheamus then makes his way to the ring and hold up his belt and says "mine is bigger than yours". Mizdow then mimicks all of the actions of Sheamus which garners a few laughs from the crowd. Miz says he's an A list movie star and deserves the belt. Sheamus says he loves Damien Mizdow and then clotheslines him while Miz ditches the ring. Sheamus then makes a Dean Martin joke and brogue kicks Damien Mizdow.

[Break]

In-ring: Tyson Kidd wearing his beats headphones with Natalya. Main Event replay: last week's Tyson Kidd vs. Jack Swagger. Kidd with the microphone says "there are two things in the world that will never lie to you cats and facts. He then says yes he is married to Nattie but he does wear the pants in the family and tonight he will prove he's more than Nattie's husband. R-truth's music then cuts him off.

1 -- R-TRUTH vs. TYSON KIDD (w/Natalya)

R-Truth shows up Kidd right away and Nattie laughs at Kidd. Kidd is then angered and yells at Nattie and starts to beat down Truth. Kidd wraps up Truth in the turn buckle and throws furious kicks.

Kidd goes for a sharp shooter and Truth counters and almost knocks Kidd into Natalya. Truth then hits his finisher for the win.

WINNER: R-Truth at 3:35

[Break]

2 -- CESARO vs. JUSTIN GABRIEL

Before the match there was a pre-taped interview of Cesaro proclaiming how he will win the Intercontinental Championship.

Cesaro took advantage of Gabriel early until Gabriel made a comeback with a hurricrana. Cesaro throws Gabriel into the corner and gives a few strikes and a clothesline. Cesaro hits a back body drop and strikes Gabriel's mid section and taunts the crowd. Gabriel spins kicks Cesaro and gains some momentum for a near fall. A few exchanges back and forth until Gabriel misses a moonsault and Cesaro hits the Neutralizer.

WINNER: Cesaro at 4:43. Cesaro looked very confident and the pre-tape promo was a big plus but he needs to establish who his character is.

[Break]

Announcers: Cole and Saxton went back to discuss how the two main events of Hell in a Cell came to be. A Raw replay was then aired.

Rusev with Lana make there way to the ring while Rusev waves the Russian flag. Another Raw replay about Rusev is aired.

[Break]

In-ring: Lana is about to speak when she is interrupted by the obligatory USA chants. She then replies by saying "SHU-TUP". She then recaps what happened on Raw and insults Birmingham. Rusev then says Big Show is an anus and he speaks through his anus. He's then interrupted by Big E's music. See a pattern here?

3 -- RUSEV (w/Lana) vs. BIG E

Rusev and Big E lock up quickly to more USA chants. Both trade a few strikes back and forth until Big E hits a back breaker. Rusev then ditches the ring and runs to Lana. Back in the ring Rusev begins to take control until Big E reverses and Rusev leaves the ring again. Big E follows him and they brawl on the outside. Rusev then rolls back into the ring while Big E lies on the outside.

[Break]

Back in the ring Rusev has control of Big E. The USA chants start up again and Big E makes a come back with a suplex. Shortly after Rusev takes control of Big E in the corner. Big E hits a belly to belly and both men are down. Both men trade back and forth and Big E hits another belly to belly suplex. Big E hits a spear for a near fall. Big E takes down his straps by Rusev counters with a super kick. Rusev locks in The Accolade for the win.

WINNER: Rusev at 11:53. Good win for Rusev and much needed after being shown up two weeks in a row on Raw.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Main Event continues to be a recap of Raw and a showcase for the mid-card. The Miz TV segment was entertaining with Mizdow but it didn't advance the storyline much. Cesaro is still trying to find his character and is being given more mic time which will help him when he's on a much bigger platform. Rusev vs. Big E was serviceable and accomplished what it needed to do.
