WWE Main Event TV results
September 4, 2013
Taped 9/3/13 in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Aired on Ion Television
By Michael Cupach, PWTorch contributor

[Q1]

-WWE open.

-Main Event opening music video, no pyro, but at least Josh Mathews welcomes everyone to the show to be consistent!

-Fandango and Summer Rae are out. Fandango mouths to Tony Chimel that he mispronounced his name.

-Alex Riley is back on commentary with Josh this week. This is very good, as I thought he did a way better job than Miz.

-Justin Gabriel, hot off his “performance” on Total Divas last week is out next. They face each other, next!

1 - JUSTIN GABRIEL vs. FANDANGO (w/Summer Rae)

Gabriel and Fandango work a headlock sequence to start. Gabriel shoulder-blocks Fandango down and he rolls out of the ring. Fandango takes a walk, then slowly comes back in and is put in a hammerlock, which he reverses, but Justin reverses back. Josh and A-Ry are discussing Cody Rhodes and how sad it is for him to be fired - Alex mentions the wedding, but is now unsure what to get him as a gift. Alex was thinking crock pot, which is nice, but now he thinks he should give him an envelope full of cash.

Justin and Fandango go through a sequence of reversals and some flipping and a flopping, Fandango rolls out of the ring again to take a powder. The crowd chants “you can’t dance” at Fandango as he re-enters the ring. Back in, he works a waistlock on Gabriel, who reverses into a headlock, but Fandango counters out with a cheapshot. Justin whips Fandango into the ropes and *whiffs* with a dropkick and Fandango is back out of the ring. Gabriel then comes over the top rope with a somersault senton and almost lands on the top of his head. I mean one or two more inches and it would have been over for him! Main Event cuts to a break!

(Commercial)

Back on Main Event at 7:00, Fandango has Gabriel on the ropes! Gabriel is knocked out of the ring, Fandango follows him out and delivers a neckbreaker, and rolls back in the ring to try to get the count-out win. But, Gabriel barely makes it back in and Fandango wails away on him. Vertical suplex by Fandango gets a two count as Alex Riley compares the firing of Cody Rhodes to the firing of Tim Tebow. I would say the difference is that one will be back in a few weeks, the other...who knows! Fandango chokes Gabriel out on the ropes, the referee breaks it up, then Fandango stomps away on Justin in the corner. Gabriel is whipped hard into the far corner. Fandango tries another press, but Gabriel kicks out again at two! Chinlock by Fandango, Gabriel fights out and side suplexes him, then both men reset.

[Q2] Fandango misses a charge in the corner. Justin then hits him with a series of kicks and is getting riled up! Flying forearm in the corner and then a springboard crossbody block for a two count on Fandango! Fandango sidesteps a moonsault, but Gabriel lands on his feet. Fandango rolls him up for a two count. Spinning heel kick by Fandango almost puts Gabriel away, but he kicks out again. Gabriel lands on his feet after a release German suplex, impressive! Fandango knocks Gabriel out with another kick, then he goes up top and connects with the legdrop from the top rope for the win!

WINNER: Fandango by pinfall in 13:22.

-Fandango and Summer Rae do a little two step as Josh goes into replays.

(Commercial)

-Highlights from Raw concerning the Triple H/Randy Orton-Daniel Bryan/Big Show storyline is shown. Notice how I properly gave Hunter top billing? He's the top star, after all.

-R-Truth is out, he faces Damien Sandow next!

(Commercial)

[Q3]

-Damien Sandow is out. He has a microphone and he wants to talk about the truth. The truth is that Cody Rhodes is fired and at home on his crowd while Sandow is here as the uncrowned World Champion. Sandow vows to decimate his opponents one by one until he decides to cash in his briefcase!

-Sandow handcuffs his briefcase to the ringpost! Hilarious!

2 - DAMIEN SANDOW vs. R-TRUTH

Truth works a headlock to start. Sandow tries getting the referee to break the hold by claiming that Truth is holding his hair. Sandow breaks free, but walks right into another headlock, then Truth takes him over. Backslide by Truth gets a two count, then Sandow makes a break for the ropes and holds on for dear life to catch a breather. Back into the headlock takeover, Sandow is really selling his frustration! Both men then trade a series of roll-ups and pinning predicaments, but the crowd isn’t really into it and doesn’t give them applause when they stop and look to the crowd for approval. Sorry, fellas, crickets are chirping!

Sandow bails again, then Truth gives chase, but runs into a trap by Sandow when both roll into the ring. Sandow drops an elbow on Truth and tries picking up the win, but Truth kicks out. Sandow now puts the headlock on Truth, but he fights out with the audience behind him. Truth hip-tosses Sandow and then drops a big leg drop on him. Sandow is clotheslined to the floor as Main Event goes to commercial 4:20 into the match!

(Commercial)

Main Event returns with Sandow driving shoulders into the mid-section of R-Truth before back-dropping Truth to the floor. Sandow follows out after him and then drives him kidney-first into the ring apron before rolling Truth back in. Sandow works the mid-section of Truth, then whips Truth into the ropes. Truth tries mounting a comeback, but Sandow ends up tossing him to the floor again!

Back in the ring, DDT by Sandow followed up by the “elbow of disdain” for another two count. Side backbreaker by Sandow. He tries a moonsault out of nowhere, but Truth rolls out of the way! Both men are slow to their feet, then Truth clotheslines Sandow back down and leg-scissors him. Truth misses a scissor kick, then Sandow tries rolling him up, but doesn’t get the win. Truth finally gets that scissor kick, but Sandow kicks out of the pin attempt. Truth walks into a shot to the mid-section by Sandow, who then busts out an Edge-o-matic for another nearfall! Terminoose attempt is reversed by Truth, then he puts Sandow away with the Lie Detector!

WINNER: R-Truth by pinfall in 12:57.

Mike's Reax: Alex Riley got it right: “Damien Sandow has the Money in the Bank briefcase, but R-Truth won.” His statement should have a question mark instead of a period because I don’t understand why Truth picks up the win tonight.

[Q4]

-Sandow declares himself still Money in the Bank Champion!

-The Cody Rhodes saga from Raw is highlighted via video package.

-This Friday on Smackdown it is announced that Triple H will hold a town hall meeting. He reminds me of “Poochie” from The Simpsons. Poochie was a spinoff from Itchy and Scratchy and a producer for the Poochie show suggested that when Poochie wasn’t on-camera people were always talking about Poochie or asking where Poochie is. For the last 50 minutes, everyone has been talking about Triple H even though he isn’t on the show.

(Commercial)

-Prime Time Players are out. They do the Millions of Dolla’s dance and then head to the ring.

-The Wyatts are here! Erick Rowan and Luke Harper will take on the Players!

3 - PRIME TIME PLAYERS vs. THE WYATT FAMILY (w/Bray Wyatt)

Titus O’Neil and Erick Rowan start things off. Titus backs him into the corner and unloads on him. Rowan then reverses a whip and headbutts the heck out of Titus in the corner. Titus is dragged to the heel corner and Harper is tagged in. He stomps on Titus then nails him with a European uppercut that takes Titus down! Harper tries the pin, but Titus kicks out.

Headlock by Harper. Titus fights to his feet and backs Harper into the Players's corner to tag in Darren Young, who uses his speed to stay a step ahead of The Wyatt Family. Running clothesline in the corner by Young. Rowan and Titus brawl on the outside and Young walks into a big boot by Harper. Clothesline from Hell puts Young away as Rowan puts Titus away on the floor.

WINNERS: The Wyatt Family by pinfall in 3:09.

-Post-match, The Wyatts hold Darren Young for Bray Wyatt, who does his finisher on him. Bray then kneels before him yelling to “follow the buzzards” as Main Event fades out.
