WWE Main Event TV results
July 31, 2013
Taped 7/25/13 in Houston, Texas
Aired on Ion Television
By Michael Cupach, PWTorch contributor

-WWE Open.

-Main Event music video.

-R-Truth raps his way to the ring. I have a hard time understanding what Truth is singing when he comes out sometimes, so tonight I hit the closed caption and the guy whose job it is to understand him just typed questions marks inside of music notes symbols. I guess all the closed captioner hears is pops and buzzes as well!

-Josh Mathews is joined by JBL on commentary this week, and he makes fun of Josh 3.7 seconds after being introduced by him. Wade Barrett makes his entrance.

1 - R-TRUTH vs. WADE BARRETT

Both men trade waistlocks to start. Truth puts on the brakes when whipped into the ropes and shakes his junk at Barrett and then hip-tosses him. Truth drops an elbow on Barrett and goes for the pin, then he kicks out at two and rolls to the floor. Back into the ring, Wade runs into a series of hip-tosses from Truth and then gets put into an armbar. Truth is firmly in control of this match and JBL blames it all on a rough spell that Barrett is going through.

Barrett regains control with a stiff haymaker that lays out truth and Wade drops a few elbows on him for good measure! Wade runs into the boots of Truth in the corner when he tries a charge, then Truth leg-scissors Wade down and then knocks him out of the ring. Truth follows him out and lunges at him, but Barrett tosses him face first into the steel steps as Main Event goes to its first break!

Back on Main Event, Wade Barrett has Truth tied up in the ropes. He knees him in the face and then boots him to the floor. I love that move/spot! Truth is sent kidney-first into the barricade and then the ring apron before both men roll back in the ring. Barrett works a headlock on Truth, who fights out, but runs into a big boot fpr another two count. The crowd gets behind Truth by chanting his name while Barrett pounds away on him in the corner until the referee pulls him out.

Scissor kick out of nowhere by R-Truth and he gets the crowd to rally behind him. A series of clotheslines by R-Truth leads to an inverted suplex for a two count. Truth misses another scissor kick and Barrett mule-kicks him in the stomach. Another mule kick from Barrett, this time to the skull gets another nearfall. Barrett nails Truth with a running clothesline in the corner, tries again and whiffs, which lets Truth scissor-kick him for yet another nearfall. The crowd thought he had the victory there, giving a loud “aww!”

Truth goes up top, but Wade puts a stop to that and tries a superplex, but Truth reverses into a sunset flip powerbomb combo! Truth gets some offense on Barrett, but gets stopped short by a Bossman Slam. Wade calls for the Bull Hammer, but Truth ducks and hits him with the Lie Detector, but Wade rolls to the floor! Truth rolls him back in the ring, but Barrett is dead weight and won’t budge. Truth tries a suicide dive to the floor and Wade Barrett connects with the Bull Hammer in mid-air to put Truth away!

WINNER: Wade Barrett by pinfall in 16:02.

-Last week on Raw, C.M. Punk tried to get his hands on Paul Heyman and came close, but Curtis Axel intervened on his agents's behalf.

(Commercial)

-This Friday on Smackdown, Alberto Del Rio handpicks his opponent. JBL comments that if he could pick his opponent, he would pick Hornswoggle.

-The Usos do their war dance entrance.

-The Prime Time Players are out next, and they face The Usos tonight!

2 - PRIME TIME PLAYERS vs. THE USOS

Jimmy and Darren start things off. Darren puts him in a headlock and works it into an armbar. Uso fights out, but runs into a shoulder block. Darren celebrates his move and Jimmy knocks him down and then puts him in an armbar. Tag to Jey, who comes off the top with an axehandle smash on Young. Jimmy continues to work over the arm, then both teams stare each other down in the ring in a stalemate when Main Event takes a time-out!

(Commercial)

Titus is working over Jey Uso when Main Event returns. Young is tagged in and he ruins all the hard work his teammate did, allowing Jimmy to tag in. The Usos work over Young, but once Jey is out, Young takes back over. Titus is back in and he dominates Jimmy and Darren Young cheap-shots The Uso behind the referee's back. Young is tagged back in, then he nails Jimmy with a neckbreaker on the apron, which spills to the floor. Titus fetches Jimmy and throws him in the ring and tries to get the win, but comes up short.

Titus puts Jimmy in a modified crossface chicken wing and Jimmy makes silly faces and mugs for the camera. Titus whips Jimmy hard into the turnbuckle, then Young is then tagged back in and suplexed on top of The Uso by his partner!

After double tags, Jey Uso uses his speed to made The Players like they are standing still! Knee in the corner on Titus, then Young breaks up the pin attempt. Jimmy sends Young packing and Jey goes up top and puts Titus away with a Superfly Splash!

WINNERS: The Usos by pin in 14:35.

(Commercial)

-Raw Rebound featuring the in-ring promo with Daniel Bryan and Vince McMahon. They also played a little of Cena vs. Ryback from Raw.

Mark Henry makes his entrance, as he is in action tonight!

(Commercial)

-Drew McIntyre is out by himself. Josh calls it a solo act! Drew doesn’t seem as scary with out any members of 3MB with him.

3 - DREW MCINTYRE vs. MARK HENRY

Henry tosses Drew to the floor to start, then Drew is upset he got manhandled like that. Drew gets back in the ring and tries chopping Henry down, but Henry shrugs him off and takes him down with a headbutt. Drew ducks when Henry charges and Drew takes Henry down after a few shots and a running dropkick!

Drew makes the mistake of letting Henry up, then he clotheslines him down and powerslams Drew, but not quite a World’s Strongest Slam - I guess there is a difference. Drew slips out of a World's Strongest Slam – speaking of it – but can’t slip out of it twice! Mark Henry picks up the easy win!

WINNER: Mark Henry by pinfall in 2:42.
