WWE Main Event TV results
May 15, 2013
Taped 5/14/13 in Wichita, Kansas
Aired on Ion Television
By Michael Cupach, PWTorch contributor

[Q1]

-WWE open.

-Cold open to the “This Week on Main Event” guy, who tells a little story about Kane trying to take down The Shield tonight, only four days before Extreme Rules.

-Main Event music video followed by pyro and Michael Cole welcoming everyone to the show.

-Kane makes his entrance and Michael Cole announces the return of The Miz to commentary on Main Event. I welcome this, as JBL was getting on my nerves a little. Between Raw, Smackdown, and pay-per-views, I thin Main Event was a bit much.

-The Shield make their entrance through the crowd, and Seth Rollins will take on Kane!

-Daniel Bryan isn’t with Kane tonight, he has a prior commitment.

1 - WWE tag champion KANE vs. SETH ROLLINS (w/The Shield)

Kane overpowers Rollins to start and backs him into the corner. Rollins uses his speed and agility to avoid Kane and try to take Kane down with a dropkick and a clothesline, but Kane ended up nailing him with a big boot. Kane whips Rollins hard into the corner and catches him on the rebound with a backbreaker. Kane stretches Seth across his back like he is Bane trying to break The Batman, but Rollins breaks free, only to run into a thrust chop to the throat. Kane goes for the Tombstone, Rollins slips free to the floor, and Reigns jumps on the apron to distract Kane while Rollins strikes from behind. However, Kane saw him out of the corner of his eye and threw Rollins over the top onto Kane as Main Event went to its first break!

(Commercial)

Vertical suplex by Kane when Main Event came back at 7:00. The Shield tries to get Rollins back into things by cheering him on, then he hits Kane with a enziguri to the side of the head to regain control. Seth puts the boots to Kane and chokes him on the middle rope, then follows up with kidney shots.

In an odd spot, Rollins scrapes Kane's face across the top rope, the idea giving him rug burn or something on his face, BUT HE IS WEARING A LEATHER MASK! Chinlock by Rollins after that failure to slow the pace down. Kane powers out and tries a side suplex, but Rollins lands on his feet and gets turned inside out by a clothesline from Kane!

[Q2] Clothesline in the corner from Kane and then a sidewalk slam gets a two count. Kane goes up top for his signature missile clothesline - The Shield started to sneak up on Kane, but he looked down at them and that opening let Rollins dropkick Kane off the top rope and to the floor. And, Main Event cut to another break at 11:00!

(Commercial)

Main Event returns with Kane in another chinlock. During the break, The Shield double-teamed Kane outside the ring when the referee's back was turned. Rollins connects with a Stinger Splash in the corner on Kane for a two count, then he goes to the second rope and gets caught by Kane on the way down with a right hand! The Miz points out that you can’t give Kane a second to recover in matches like this.

Suplex by Kane doesn’t put Rollins away. He tries the missile clothesline again and it takes Rollins head off! Kane calls for the Chokeslam, Rollins counters and comes off the top rope and gets caught in a Chokeslam, Rollins reverses and Kane reverses the reversal into a Chokeslam, but Dean Ambrose runs in and causes the DQ.

WINNER: Kane by DQ in 18:14.

-Post match, Roman Reigns spears Kane and The Shield tear him apart three-on-one. Kane is picked up and triple powerbombed like it is no one's business, but before he is slammed down, The Usos make the save and fight The Shield off! The Shield retreat and regroup as The Usos and Kane stand tall in the ring. Cole reminds the crowd that Daniel Bryan has a prior commitment and isn’t available. Did he have a dentist appointment or something? What is the commitment?

-Highlights from last Monday night's six-man tag match of Shield vs. Team Hell No and John Cena is shown. By highlights I mean Cena is shown beating the entire Shield by himself. Blindfolded. Going uphill both ways. In the snow. Sure, it was by disqualification, but still... After the match and post-match beating from The Shield, Ryback made his way down and smashed Cena’s bad ankle with a chair. He didn’t quite Pillmanize it, but it was pretty bad!

[Q3]

-Up next, the caged confrontation between Triple H and Brock Lesnar from Raw.

(Commercial)

-An extensive video package highlighting the year-long feud between Triple H and Brock Lesnar airs. This has been one long year!

-Sin Cara came out for a match, as tonight he is returning on Main Event. He is in action, next!

(Commercial)

-Based off tonight's earlier run-in with The Usos and The Shield, a tag match is made for this Friday on Smackdown.

-Wade Barrett makes his way to the ring, and he will face Sin Cara in a non-title match.

2 - Intercontinental champion WADE BARRETT vs. SIN CARA – non-title match

Sin Cara mood lighting also makes its return to Main Event as Miz explains why he lost to Barrett and where he has been in the last few weeks. Barrett takes down Sin Cara and then chokes Sin Cara on the middle rope until the referee breaks it up.

[Q4] Sin Cara is tossed to the floor as Wade looks quite proud of himself. Wade goes to the floor and drives the back of Sin Cara into the apron. Both men re-enter the ring and Wade slows down Sin Cara with a rear chinlock. Sin Cara powers out and Barrett runs into a boot from Cara, who springboard elbows Barrett. Top-rope cross-body by Sin Cara almost puts Wade away, then he kicks Barrett hard in the face and comes off the top rope with a missile dropkick for another two count!

Sin Cara tries a top rope maneuver, but Barrett makes Cara think twice about it and then slams him down with “the winds of change.” Barrett tries a powerbomb, but Sin Cara reverses into a West Coast Pop for the victory!

WINNER: Sin Cara by pinfall in 4:05.

-Backstage, Cody Rhodes is making his way to ringside, as he takes on Justin Gabriel when Main Event returns!

(Commercial)

3 - CODY RHODES vs. JUSTIN GABRIEL

Who thinks “Capetown Werewolf” is a cool nickname? I’m thinking Gabriel and maybe members of his immediate family, other than that... I don’t know. The Miz says that Gabriel is his dad’s favorite Superstar; he isn’t even his dad’s favorite? Gabriel suplexes Cody into the ring from the apron, then both men block armdrags and Cody takes him down with a neckbreaker. Neck vice from Cody, but Justin counters and hits Cody with a chinbreaker.

Spinwheel kick from Gabriel and a back suplex almost pust Cody away, but not quite. Springboard moonsault by Gabriel doesn’t put Cody away either. Justin tries the 450 Splash, but Cody rolls away. Cody tries Cross Rhodes, but Gabriel rolls him up for a two count. Alabama Slam from Cody gets a two count on Gabriel, then Cody then puts him away with Cross Rhodes.

WINNER: Cody Rhodes by pin in 3:09.

-Post-match, Cody and The Miz stare each other down. They face each other at Extreme Rules in the pre-show match.
