WWE Main Event TV results
February 27, 2013
Taped 2/26/13 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Aired on Ion Television
By Michael Cupach, PWTorch contributor

[Q1]

-Cold open to Main Event, as Kaitlyn is roaming the halls backstage and she runs into Cody Rhodes. They have a tete a tete about his lovestache, then Sheamus enters and *ahem* blocks Cody. Sheamus makes fun of the caterpillar on his face. Cody then challenges Sheamus to a match on Main Event, tonight! Cody asks Kaitlyn to watch closely.

-Main Event music video followed by full pyro. Michael Cole welcomes every to Main Event and introduces Jerry Lawler as his co-host for the first time on Main Event! They tease that they know the main event of WrestleMania and will show who will face The Rock for the WWE Title.

-Sheamus makes his way to the ring, Cody is out next.

1 - SHEAMUS vs. CODY RHODES

Sheamus nails Cody in the chops to start things off, which shakes Cody up. He goes to the ropes and complains to the referee about the cheap shot. Cody tries a front facelock, but Sheamus powers out and sends Cody to the floor. Cody is frustrated on the outside and Lawler makes a lame mustache joke.

Back in the ring, a suplex by Sheamus gets a two count. Cody surprises Sheamus by whipping him outside the ring to the floor. Cody tries driving Sheamus face-first into the steel post, but he puts on the brakes and instead slams Cody face first into the announce table. Sheamus tosses Cody into the ring, Cody nails him with the Disaster Kick as he tries getting back into the ring! Main Event then goes to a commercial break.

(Commercial)

Main Event returns at 6:00 with Sheamus about to hit with White Noise, but Cody reverses into a DDT. Front facelock by Cody, he turns it into an armbar, Sheamus powers out, but Cody puts him down with a side Russian legsweep. Cody keeps the pressure on the arm of The Celtic Warrior. Sheamus tries a small package, but Cody comes out of it with a beautiful dropkick. Cody starts trash talking Sheamus about mustaches, Sheamus shuts him up with an Irish Curse backbreaker! Sheamus starts to come alive with Irish hammers and a clotheslines in the corner.

[Q2] Cody is tossed out the ring, but skins the cat back in. Sheamus catches him and ties him up in the ropes and clubbers away on him! Top-rope battering ram by Sheamus fails to put Cody away, then Lawler suspects that he is showing more toughness tonight in trying to impress Kaitlyn. Sheamus misses a charge in the corner and gores shoulder first into the post, Cody goes to the top and connects with a top-rope moonsault! The little kids in the crowd are chanting for Sheamus, who tries a Texas CLvoerleaf, but Cody kicks him in the knee and then running knees him in the face!

Rhodes is calling for the end; he sets up Sheamus for Cross Rhodes, Sheamus counters into White Noise, but Cody slips out, Brogue Kick misses, Beautiful Kick misses, and then (phew) the Brogue Kick connects and Sheamus puts Cody away! What a sequence!

WINNER: SHEAMUS by pinfall in 12:52.

-Michael Cole calls last Monday's match between Cena and Punk the greatest match in the history of Raw, and they will show it in its entirety tonight!

-Mark Henry is roaming the halls. He faces Justin Gabriel next.

(Commercial)

2 - MARK HENRY vs. JUSTIN GABRIEL

Gabriel sticks and moves to start things off, then he tries using his speed to avoid Henry, but Mark Henry is too much to avoid. Henry slams Gabriel down and stomps on him while asking him if he still likes kicking people. Justin is back on his feet, he gets some good shots in, but eventually gets run over by Mark Henry with a clothesline. Henry tries blatantly choking out Justin, and the referee calls him off. Hard whip by Henry into the corner, then he taunts Gabriel to fly on him.

Gabriel slips out of a bod slam and tries chopping Henry down. Mark catches Gabriel mid-air and throws him on the apron. Gabriel tries another springboard, gets caught again, and Henry powerslams him. Vader Bomb in the corner by Henry barely hits, he peels him off the mat and puts Gabriel away with the World’s Strongest Slam!

WINNER: Mark Henry via pin in 4:38.

[Q3]

-Henry is walking to the back, then he turns around and admires what he did in the ring.

-Up next, the return of Triple H last Monday on Raw.

(Commercial)

-A special look at Ryback is randomly shown. This video is shades of the early, glory days of Main Event when wrestlers would be highlighted before their matches. Now it occurs with no warning.

-Backstage, Cody is throwing a fit when Kaitlyn runs into him. She tries to break the ice with a line about his mustache, but it goes over like a fart in the church. She walks off awkwardly.

-Raw recap featuring the fight between Heyman and McMahon that ended with Brock Lesnar and Triple H duking it out all around ringside. I thought this was a very effective brawl to rekindle their rivalry from last summer.

-Up next, John Cena vs. CM Punk.

(Commercial)

[Q4]

-Michael Cole introduces John Cena vs. C.M. Punk from last Monday. He said earlier that it would be shown in its entirety, but it looks like to be joined right after the first commercial break, maybe six or seven minutes into the match. They cut to a break at 8:50 p.m. after Punk hit a suicide dive to on Cena.

(Commercial)

Main Event comes back with the match at about the 22:00-23:00 minute mark. I guess they are getting the highpoints of the match, if not the whole thing. This is easily a Top Five match in the history of Raw. I don’t think that these two can have a bad match, absolute gold when they meet in the ring. This match was the perfect start to the Road to WrestleMania, but it will also be tough to top for Cena and Rock.
