WWE Main Event Results
October 24, 2012
Taped 10/23/12 in Providence, R.I.
Aired on Ion Television
By Michael Cupach, PWTorch contributor

[Q1]

-WWE open.

-Main Event opening music video followed by full pyro and an introduction by Michael Cole. Cole and his co-host, The Miz, are mid-ring. Cole introduces The Miz as “former IC champion” and Miz takes offense to it and corrects Cole, saying he will win it back at Hell in a Cell. Michael changes gears and starts talking about Dolph Ziggler vs. Ryback. Miz breaks down how Ziggler has the speed, but Ryback has the strength. Cole throws to a video package about Ryback.

-A video of Ryback destroying virtually a bunch of jobbers is shown, between each Shellshock he delivers the crowd chants “feed me more!” It ends with him hitting his finisher on C.M. Punk.

-Michael asks The Miz if Ryback is unstoppable, Miz says that when you are in the ring with him you feel like a piece of meat and there is nothing you can do to stop him from feeding.

-A package about Dolph Ziggler is next. WWE offers a fast-paced video of his greatest hits with quotes from other Superstars touting how he is the future. Dolph says that one day he wants to be known as the greatest Superstar who ever lived and he feels he will be one day. The video ends with him winning Money in the Bank.

-Matt Striker is with Ryback, he says that some have said that he hasn’t earned his match with Punk on Sunday for the title and Ryback responds by saying “watch what I do to Ziggler; it is feeding time.”

-Josh is in Dolph’s dressing room. He asks what his gameplan is, but Dolph has no comment. Josh presses the issue, but Dolph kicks him out of his dressing room. Dolph doesn’t look as confident as he did last week when he made the challenge.

-Ryback makes his entrance. Michael Cole calls him a modern day gladiator. The Miz sells that he is still injured by what Ryback did to him last Monday on Raw.

-Ryback faces Dolph Ziggler next!

-Dolph Ziggler makes his entrance, but Vickie Guerrero isn’t with him. Cole mentions that Vickie isn’t with Dolph as a result of the scandal going on between A.J. Lee and John Cena.

1. DOLPH ZIGGLER vs. RYBACK

Dolph looks like he wants to cry! The Miz keeps hammering home that Dolph must be regretting his open challenge! Dolph tries to escape to start, but Ryback goes after him and throws him across the ring! Ziggler rolls to the floor to escape Ryback, but he gets followed out!

[Q2] Ryback pulls Dolph back in and tosses him again. Dolph rolls back out and sneaks in some kicks on Ryback, but eventually gets caught and swung into the barricade like a baseball bat! I fear for Dolph Ziggler's life here! Back in the ring, Dolph wiggles out of a powerslam attempt and he bolts to the backstage area. Ryback is in hot pursuit as Main Event takes a break!

(Commercial)

Back from break, Ryback's music plays again and he makes his way back to the ring while carrying Dolph fireman's carry style! He press-slams Dolph into the ring and yells at Dolph to get up. Dolph tries a series of clotheslines, but Ryback no sells and slams Dolph. Bearhug by Ryback on Ziggler, Miz puts over that Punk is no pushover, he has beaten guys that people said he had no chance of beating. Ziggler sidesteps Ryback on a charge and he comes off the top rope with an ax-handle smash and then a dropkick. Dolph tries a huracanrana, but Ryback powerbombs him instead! Ryback chants “feed me more” and almost decapitates Dolph with a clothesline. Dolph goes up for Shellshock and Ryback picks up the win!

WINNER: Ryback by pinfall in 9:07.

Mike's Reax: Dolph took some sick bumps during this match and he made Ryback look like an unstoppable monster. This wasn’t a mat classic by any stretch of the imagination, but it did what it had to do by putting Ryback over strong. The commentary was also spot on with how they talked about Ryback - The Miz added a lot with his experience with Ryback last Monday. The video packages were a little weak, the Dolph video was good, but Ryback's should have had other wrestlers and legends endorsing him. All in all, very good segments and matches from both men! Lastly, it was an interesting development that Vickie will no longer be Dolph’s business manager since she is now the “Executive General Managing Consultant and Vice President of Raw.” I think this will be great for Dolph, getting away from Vickie.

-Still to come, Paul Heyman will make a statement on behalf of C.M. Punk. Also tonight, Alberto Del Rio will take on Sin Cara!

(Commercial)

-WWE is promoting The Rolling Stones's next tour, including airing a PPV of their final show.

[Q3] -Long-form Raw Rebound revolving around John Cena, A.J. Lee, and the scandal that revolves around them.

-On the YouTube.com pre-show Sunday, John Cena will address the scandal. Apparently he will take question from the audience and social media. That sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen!

-Another Raw Rebound featuring Ryback destroying Punk after the lumberjack match.

-Paul Heyman made a statement on behalf of Punk via Titantron. He said that Dolph Ziggler is no C.M. Punk and Punk is in a category of his own, so comparing what happens to the two isn’t possible. Paul commends Miz for facing Ryback head on, but puts Dolph down for running away. Paul then says that Ryback has unprecedented power, but he doesn’t have the intelligence to survive Hell in a Cell, but Punk has all the tools to do so. Heyman says that Punk is the best in the world and will deliver Ryback his first defeat.

-Sin Cara makes his way to the ring for his match against Del Rio, it is next!

(Commercial)

[Q4]

2 - SIN CARA vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO

Del Rio backs Sin Cara into the corner and stomps a mudhole in him. Snap suplex from Del Rio gets a two counts. He follows with a stiff kick to the back of Sin Cara. It should be noted that there is no Sin Cara mood lighting tonight. Sin Cara comes back with a arm-drag off the top rope, and Del Rio answers back by tossing Sin Cara shoulder first into the ring post. Alberto kicks Sin Cara to the floor. He follows him out and tosses Cara back in the ring. Del Rio works over Sin Cara's arm, weakening it for the Cross Arm-breaker later. Del Rio goes for a knee to the stomach, but Sin Cara reverses into a schoolboy for a two count. Del Rio puts Sin Cara back down with a back breaker and then puts the boots to Sin Cara while he is down. Del Rio shoves Sin Cara to the floor when he tries a springboard.

(Commercial)

Back from break, Del Rio is trying to unmask Sin Cara, which Miz notes is the ultimate sign of disrespect. Del Rio misses a charge in the corner and goes shoulder-first into the post. Head scissors takedown from Sin Cara, he follows it up with a spring board elbow and an impressive-looking neckbreaker! Sin Cara kicks Del Rio in the side of the head, then misses a Swanton Bomb. Del Rio quickly locks in the Cross Arm-breaker and Sin Cara taps out immediately!

WINNER: Alberto Del Rio by submission in 8:37.

-Post-match, Del Rio grabs the microphone and he says that he hopes Orton was watching because that was his fate. He calls Orton a crying little girl who cries about everything. Del Rio then out of nowhere says he doesn’t need songs about having millions of dollars because he has millions of dollars. The Prime Time Players make their way out, taking offense to what Del Rio said. Del Rio then points to Sin Cara and says that he is their enemy. Del Rio suggests they work together and they start to triple-team Sin Cara. Cole notes that Rey Mysterio isn’t in Rhode Island, so there is no one to save him.

Randy Orton makes the save for Sin Cara, delivering RKOs to both Prime Time Players and chases Del Rio out of the ring. Orton then makes a challenge for next week's show – Orton, Mysterio, and Sin Cara vs. Del Rio and the Prime Time Players in a six-man tag match. Orton says “Trick or treat” and drops the microphone and poses for the crowd as Main Event fades out.
