WWE Superstars Results

Report by Justin James, PWTorch contributor

1 - MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY vs. TENSAI

McGillicutty sizes up Tensai as the "Albert" chants starts. Tensai dominates McGillicutty as McGillicutty plays a sympathetic role. A "Let'sGgo Michael" chant brings McGillicutty to life.

[Commercial Break]

Tensai is still in control and the crowd is still firmly behind McGillicutty, who finally rallies. Hilariously, Tensai isn't flexible enough to have his face smashed into the mat on a blockbuster. Big top-rope cross-body gets a nearfall for McGillicutty. Tensai cuts off the comeback with a powerbomb, though, followed by the running senton for the win.

WINNER: Tensai in 8:00. The match was almost completely Tensai, and it was boring as watching paint dry on a cold, humid day. McGillicutty shocked me by how well he got the crowd to respond to him in the babyface role. He took to it very naturally, and much better than his NXT 2 days. He could easily join Alex Riley in the ranks of larger, athletic face characters who do not need TV time to connect to the audience.

There's an incredible video package with Layla to support Susan G. Komen. I hate to sound cold, but I normally have little emotional connection to these things, even though my grandmother has had two bouts with it, and now has leukemia caused by her breat cancer treatments. But, this video package was outstanding, and should be seen.

2 - KAITLYN vs. BETH PHOENIX

At the beginning of the match, Phoenix flips her hair to indicate that she didn't attack Kaitlyn at Night of Champions, and demands respect. The crowd is cheering for Phoenix, who starts strong against Kaitlyn. They battle outside the ring, which is a rarity in a Divas match. Phoenix to the top rope and they cut to commercial.

[Commercial Break]

Kaitlyn is struggling to get traction as Phoenix continues to dominate. Kaitlyn starts to make a comeback, but she can't put Phoenix away. Phoenix picks Katilyn off the top rope, but Kaitlyn slips out. Phoenix picks her up over the shoulder, but Kaitlyn is able to counter it into a springboard sunset flip of sorts for the win.

WINNER: Kaitlyn in 6:30. Basic match. I thought Phoenix was released? Apparently not, and her profile page is back on WWE.com. I hope they do something useful with her, and I suspect the destination may be Eve vs. Phoenix for the title, but having her lose to Kaitlyn isn't a good way to start that trip.
