WWE Fast Lane PPV Report
February 22, 2015
Memphis, Tenn.
Report by James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

Live PPV Pre-Show

From inside FedEx Forum, Renee Young introduced Booker T, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton at the studio panel from a virtually empty arena as fans were being let in the building. After some back-and-forth opening exchanges, Tom Phillips checked in from the social media lounge.

Next was talk about the Seth Rollins vs. Jon Stewart feud. Booker said it looked like Stewart stayed up all night writing his promo responding to Rollins.

Backstage, Eden Stiles interviewed Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, and Erick Rowan about facing The Authority in a six-man tag tonight.

Earlier today, Renee Young found Dean Ambrose at the top of the arena for an interview talking about why he wants the Intercontinental Title. Ambrose said he's the real thing and the kind of guy who should be holding the IC Title. He also talked about feeling like he did all the dirty work in The Shield while his best friend, Roman Reigns, got the glory, so this is his chance to stand alone as IC champion. Ambrose vowed to bust up Wade Barrett and bring the title back to prominence, including taking it to WrestleMania.

After some more match break downs, they went back to the social media lounge for Tom Phillips to host a Twitter Q&A with WWE tag champs The Usos. They're fired up about Rikishi in the WWE Hall of Fame, they shared shoes and socks as kids, and their non-Tag Title career highlight was dancing with Rikishi on Raw.

Vignette: Sheamus is returning.

Ringside: Michael Cole, JBL, and Jerry Lawler in his hometown were shown ringside. Cole forgot to mention that it's Lawler's hometown, then Miz's music interrupted.

Miz TV Segment

The Miz and Damien Sandow were introduced to the ring for Miz's talk show segment. Sandow drew his own cheers, drawing Miz's ire. So, Miz told Sandow to go sit in the corner, where personal assistants belong. Sandow sat down in the corner to loud "No!" chants, then Miz introduced his talk show to boos.

Miz said he turned down presenting at the Academy Awards, but it's okay because "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson is filling in for him. He said he couldn't miss Fast Lane, where Daniel Bryan faces Roman Reigns. (That was WWE's early market research on the crowd reaction for the PPV main event.) Miz then welcomed out the advocate for WWE World Hvt. champion, Mr. Paul Heyman.

Heyman marched down to the ring sans music. Miz asked Heyman if Brock Lesnar will be here tonight. Heyman smirked and said that's an interesting question. He said his client, the reigning, defending, undisputed Hvt. champion of the World, Brock Lesnar, is ..... not here this evening. (Boos.)

Miz followed up by claiming to be a great actor who will win an Oscar one day. He added that he has won the main event of WrestleMania, which makes him qualified to ask any question he wants. He asked Heyman whether Lesnar prefers Reigns or Bryan at WrestleMania. Heyman said he does not discount Daniel Bryan because of how talented he is and the wave of momentum that he is riding, but his client, Brock Lesnar, will not be conc --- Heyman's voice trailed off and asked Miz what's up with Sandow. Heyman said he's not comfortable with how Sandow is looking at him sitting in the corner. Miz told Sandow to turn around and face the turnbuckle. Instead, Sandow stood up and removed his glasses to stare down Miz. He said no one wants to see him right, so sit down in the corner and face the the turnbuckle.

Miz returned to Heyman to discuss Roman Reigns. Heyman said he's known Reigns's family since he was a teenager. Heyman talked up Reigns, which produced "Mizdow, Mizdow" chants from the crowd. Heyman waited out the chant, then said the crowd might have missed something, so he will start over. (Boos.) Heyman repeated his speech about Reigns's history, then said it does not matter who wins tonight because Lesnar will win at WrestleMania. Heyman tossed the mic and shook hands with Miz before exiting the ring.

Of note, the return date to Memphis is Monday, September 14 for Raw. The pre-sale password is WWERAW.

Renee and Booker, Saxton, and Graves wrapped up with final predictions for the Fast Lane PPV to wrap up the pre-show.
