WWE Hell in a Cell PPV Report
October 26, 2014
Dallas, Tex.
Report by James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

Scheduled for the pre-show: Miz TV with Damien Sandow and Paul Heyman on the pre-show panel.

Live One-Hour PPV Pre-Show

The pre-show kicked off with Renee Young at the arena desk with Booker T, Alex Riley, and Paul Heyman. Heyman said his client, WWE World Hvt. champion Brock Lesnar, is watching tonight's PPV "with interest." Renee, Riley, and Booker did the clownish $9.99 Network plug, which Heyman declined to participate in. Heyman said he's here to hype Lesnar, not to hype "your Network."

Renee then fed to a video package on The Shield, setting up Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins tonight in the Cell. Next, Riley broke down four "Keys to Victory" for Rollins, then Ambrose, presenting the match as a sporting event. Nice touch. They went to Tom Phillips at the Social Media Lounge for more talk on Ambrose vs. Rollins.

Next was a lengthy video package on the decade-long John Cena vs. Randy Orton rivalry, which has been shoehorned into a HIAC match tonight. Riley said he thinks Cena will win tonight, prompting Heyman to describe the winner of the match as the loser who then faces Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Title. "Either John Cena or Randy Orton will have their final moment of glory tonight," he said.

Miz TV Segment

Damien Sandow and The Miz were introduced to the ring for Sandow hosting Miz's in-ring segment. Michael Cole, JBL, and Jerry Lawler were shown on commentary at ringside hyping the segment.

In the ring, Sandow welcomed everyone to the second-most must-see show in WWE, Mizdow TV. Miz interrupted with a speech about allowing his own stunt-double to host his TV show. He called it "un-presidented" instead of "unprecedented." This prompted some back-and-forth presidential jokes from the announcers. Sandow then stood up to ask Miz a question, but Miz interrupted to tell Sandow what to ask him. Miz then revealed his strategy against U.S. champion Sheamus tonight.

Sandow tried to get some shine noting he is the one who technically beat Sheamus last week on Raw, prompting Miz to shoot him a glare. Sandow clarified that he was inspired by Miz and because he works for him, Miz beat Sheamus on Raw. Boos. Miz said unlike on Raw, he will win the U.S. Title tonight. Sandow then hyped Miz headlining WrestleMania, crossing over to becoming a movie star, and the next U.S. champion.

Sandow got choked up and said Miz is the best friend he's ever had. "Damien, I am touched," Miz said. Miz said he's generous enough to give those words back. "Damien, you're a damn good stunt double," he said. Miz said he's glad to call him his friend. Big hug. Sheamus then interrupted on the video screen and told Sandow to get on his hands and knees to kiss Miz's arse. He said Miz might have Hollywood, but he won't have the U.S. Title after tonight. Sandow and Miz sold anger in the ring as Sheamus closed by mocking them with a broken movie trailer.

Studio Panel: With 30 minutes remaining on the pre-show, Renee Young brought in Heyman, Booker, and Riley to break down the PPV undercard. Next was a video package on the Big Show vs. Rusev feud. Suddenly, Renee introduced a ... wrestling match on the pre-show?

Out first was Mark Henry wrestling in his home state. Bo Dallas came out as the opposition. Bo said he's beaten Henry four times, which makes him the new World's Strongest Man. Henry was not amused. Bo said he is such a winner that he is immune to the disease spread by this city (ebola) that shares his name. Pause. Dallas said he is so embarrassed that he is changing his name to Bo Washington. (Dallas plays Washington on Monday Night Football tomorrow.) JBL made a bo-ner joke before the bell sounded.

A -- MARK HENRY vs. BO WASHINGTON/DALLAS

Henry squashed Bo, ending the match with World's Strongest Slam. Post-match, Bo angrily took the mic and shouted, "You cheated!" Bo said that in the record book of life, he's the winner and he's 5-0 against Henry. "Because I (pain) Bo-Lieve." Henry didn't appreciate the post-match commentary and chased him off.

WINNER: Henry at 0:35.

Backstage: Byron Saxton brought in Paige and Alicia Fox to discuss Paige's Divas Title shot against A.J. Lee. Paige said A.J. ripped her heart out and threw it in the "bin." She said Fox was there to pick up the pieces, then smooched her on the cheek. Paige vowed to regain the title tonight. They left the shot, but Fox returned to make Saxton look foolish.

Video Package: Hell in a Cell By The Numbers.
