Our condolences go out to the family and friends of former WWE World Champion Randy "Macho Man" Savage, who died earlier today.

Here at PWTorch.com, myself and the other members of the Over The Hill Gang know that there are a lot of young wrestling fans following our website. Since Randy Savage last wrestled full-time in the 1990's, some of you only know the Macho Man as a video game character. But thanks to the wonder of internet media, we can all take a look back at the career of the ex-champion. Here's a quick Wrestling History Lesson.

Let's start in 1979, when Randy Savage was a part of All-Star Championship Wrestling. Here's "Macho Man" Randy Savage taking on Ric McCord. (6/30/79 - Knoxville, TN)

One of the most memorable feuds of the mid-1980's took place in the Memphis territory, a promotion that featured some wild brawling. Here is the first meeting between The Rock 'n Roll Express and the tag team of Randy Savage and brother Lanny Poffo. (Star Wars '84 - 6/25/84 - Memphis, TN)

As WWF Intercontinental Champion Title, Savage faced a variety of challengers. Here's the Macho Man against the legendary Bruno Sammartino (1/3/87 - Boston, MA)

In 1991, the Macho Man came out of retirement to help the World Wrestling Federation after an injury to Sid "Justice" Eudy. Here, Randy Savage teams up with Hacksaw Jim Duggan to face Jake "The Snake" Roberts and The Undertaker. (12/4/91 - Austin, TX)

In 1994, the Macho Man left his announcer spot on WWF Raw and jumped to World Championship Wrestling. Savage was not only a foil for Hulk Hogan, but remained a headliner in his own right. Here, Randy Savage faces Diamond Dallas Page in the main event of WCW's Great American Bash '97. (6/15/97 - Moline, IL)

Thanks for dropping by. Have a good weekend!

Pat McNeill of Richmond, Va. has been a PWTorch Columnist since 2001. He cohosts the PWTorch Livecast on Wednesdays. Check back later this weekend for McNeill's preview of WWE Over The Limit.
