Magic, Memories & Mania - WrestleMania Log
By Shawn Valentino, PWTorch specialist

It was an absolutely wild WrestleMania week, and one of the highlights was attending the exclusive WrestleMania Afterparty. I was there with my crew of friends, Rich Twilling, formerly of Dotnet, O.J. Entertainment, and the Chazman. We have been dubbed The Last Outlaws due to our reputation of being the biggest partiers at the WrestleMania hotel.

Of course the centerpiece of WrestleMania nightlife is their annual post-party for wrestlers and their families. This was my third time going to the WWE’s biggest bash of the year. Here are some observations from my experience.

(1) We arrived at the party really late because of difficulties getting from the stadium to the hotel. Most of the main event talent was not there. I did not see Brock Lesnar or Hulk Hogan or any of the McMahons. This is a stark contrast to previous years when I saw most of the top stars letting loose. I remember at my first party, the McMahons, Mickey Rourke, Undertaker, and others were in attendance.

(2) Roman Reigns was one of the stars there, and he stayed until the end despite a brutal match with Lesnar. A couple of my friends spoke to him, and he was very polite.

(3) Scott Hall was there drinking water to the wee hours of the night reuniting with his fellow Kliq member Sean Waltman.

(4) Rikishi and The Usos were the center of the part with the master of the Stinkface rapping on the microphone as his sons controlled the dance floor.

(5) Miz and Maryse also stayed until the end, and the former Diva looked better than ever. In my opinion, she is WWE’s most beautiful women in recent years, and she was an underrated act.

(6) We hung out for a long time with the creator of the Tapout line of clothing and his girlfriend, who is a swimwear designer. He recently signed a deal with WWE, and it was obvious he was having a great time.

(7) I got to speak to Lana and Rusev briefly at the party and apologized about the noise and insanity coming from next door, since our room was literally connected to theirs.

(8) Some of the Divas took the dance floor until last call including Summer Rae, Layla, and Jo Jo, all of whom were very friendly. I spoke to Adam Rose about his character and suggested that it would be a cool edgy heel if they made him an unstable bad boy rock star like Axel Rose or Stacee Jaxx instead of a goofy comedy act. He agreed, so he sounds like even he knows that the gimmick needs some repackaging.

(9) Many of the NXT talent were there, and it was obvious they were enjoying their first true WrestleMania Party experience.

(10) This was smaller than previous years’s post-Mania parties, but it was still an absolutely classy top-notch affair. There was open bar and delicious buffet food to keep everyone happy. The Fairmont ballroom setting was posh and befitting the grand spectacle that WrestleMania Week has become.
