Wade Keller: Do you think you ended up viewing being a talent differently (in WWE) now that were purely talent and not management? Having been in WWE as somebody who was told what to do, given your marching orders, you've got some input but ultimately you're answering to somebody else, did you look at being a talent differently having seen things through that lens?

Eric Bischoff: Not at all. You remember, I started out as talent. I started out with Verne Gagne. I started out, anybody that came up the way I did underneath Verne, I came in completely green, no experience ever, so he was my first drill instructor, if you will. He created my mould, if you will, in terms of the way I looked at being talent. When you were talent with Verne, he laid it out and you did it to the best of your ability. That's how it worked. And that was kind of instilled in me for three or four years before I went to Turner. But when I went to Turner, I went to Turner as talent, and I kind of carried that ethic or that philosophy with me as talent when I got to Turner. When I became management, I expected the same thing in return. I didn't ask people to perform or react or conduct themselves any differently than I had when I was talent. When I got to WWE, I was there as talent. I basically operated the same way I did when I worked for Verne Gagne. That's the role. To this day, when you're talent, you sign an agreement that says I'm going to take a check, you're going to tell me what to do. That's the deal. Unless you're somebody special and you can say, "Look, I'm going to take the check, but we're going to talk about this shit..." But that's not the case. It certainly wasn't the case with me, and my guess is it's not the case with too many people. Once I made the decision that I was going, I was going purely as talent. So honestly nothing changed. Nothing ever changed with me from 1987 to now. My roles changed, but my expectations of talent whether I was it or I was directing it never changed.
