Wade Keller: So he (Ric Flair) got worked up by other people and decided what? Did you figure it out in retrospect? Was there something you did between the time you were out having drinks with him and seemingly coexisting?

Eric Bischoff: You know, honestly, what I think it is or was, Ric is an emotional guy. He is intense, very emotional. I've had some of the most fun I've ever had in the wrestling business with Ric Flair and I've had some of the most challenging times I've ever had in this business with Ric Flair. It's one or the other, or it has been in the past. Now we've both kind of reached a point in our lives or careers and relationship where it's just fine, it's great. But going back ten or fifteen years ago, there were a number of things. In fairness to Ric, and I can understand it now from his point of view, I can actually put myself in Ric Flair's shoes to a certain degree and understand why there was a lot of resentment there. In his mind I disrespected him. I never intended to. It was never something I wanted to do where I sat at home and said, "I'm going to bury Ric Flair." It's not how my mind works. I don't spend energy thinking that way. I never have. But, in Ric's mind, it appeared that way. When I made decisions that I made that in Ric's mind affected him negatively or affected his character negatively, he interpretted that as disrespect from me and maybe even more than that. Maybe in addition to disrespect maybe - and I can't speak for Ric and I don't want to try - but I'm guessing in some respects Ric thought I was trying to hurt his career. I get it now. I certainly didn't see it then. I think in Ric's case what led up to that one particular incident was just Ric kind of looking back and here's this guy that he was carrying around some resentment and anger for over things that had happened years ago. For some reason, I don't know what the flash point was, I have no idea, it reached a point where Ric just felt, You know what, I'm just going to go and smack this guy around. That's what he tried to do. (laughs)
