On Monday, September 14, PWTorch editor Wade Keller interviewed former WCW President Eric Bischoff an exclusive multi-hour "Torch Talk" interview covering a variety of controversial subjects from the Monday Night War period, his days on WWE TV, his 2006 autobiography, and the "Rise & Fall of WCW" DVD.

The following is the first installment of Part 3(b) of our daily Q&As to be published here at PWTorch.com, which is unprecedented with our VIP-exclusive "Torch Talk" series.

Wade Keller: At the time that I interviewed Sean (Waltman) about this (being fired from WCW) back in '98, I asked him how he felt about it and he said: "I'd be lying if I said I liked Eric. Me, to f--- with a guy's stability and home life while I'm sitting at home with a neck injury that I got on the job, almost ready to come back to work, I think for somebody to be able to do that with a clear conscience, I think he lost something. He just seems like an empty soul sometimes. He can say he's just trying to run a company, but that wasn't what that was for. Yeah, he can say my friends were disruptive and that, but let him tell you exactly what it was that they did. Let him tell you exactly what it was that they did, let me hear exactly what it was that made him go and do that. You want to run your mouth and say my friends are disruptive. Well, telling the truth or telling somebody 'yeah, that's bullsh--, that's obviously not right,' things like that, if that's disruptive just because it's a different opinion of what they're doing, well, I guess they were disruptive then in his eyes." The story is, and Nash and Hall backed this up, was you lashed out at Sean because of their giving you a hard time at that point behind the scenes. And you're saying your memory is clear, absolutely not, it was just a move Barry Bloom made, likely with Sean's permission, to try to hold you up.

Eric Bischoff: No, it was it. Diane Meyers came to me and she said, "We're getting this demand."

Keller: So Sean's firing had nothing to do with you getting back at Hall and Nash, because they are absolutely under that belief 12 years later.

Bischoff: Again, they know what they know, and I know what I know. To them, I'm sure it looked that way. I'm not saying they're lying. They believe what they're saying. Because they don't know my side of the story. There are a lot of things that went on inside of that company that the talent didn't know about it. Nor was I obligated to share with them. My primary motivation - and I'm not going to tell you that it probably hastened the decision and it probably was the difference with me sitting down and having a conversation with Scott and Kevin and saying, "Hey guys, I hate to tell you this, but I'm going to put a bullet in your buddy because his agent's a jerk and I don't let people hold me up." I would rather fail at life than succumb to being held up on a daily basis. And I probably would have had a different conversation with everybody had Scott and I and Kevin maybe not going through whatever we were going through at the time, which I don't remember, by the way. My motivation, primarily, was because we had an agreement, he redacted the agreement, I got a hold-up letter, and that just blows. I'm not doing it.
