Wade Keller: Had WWE asked you to get involved in the promoting or even the corporate side for whatever the circumstances were - and not that you were losing sleep over waiting for that phone call or that invite - but would you have entertained the idea or were you at a very different place at that point and it was on-air only?

Eric Bischoff: I would never have entertained it. In fact, I made it clear in one of my very first phone calls with Vince because I didn't know what he was thinking at the time. I had kind of gotten wind that he was going to be calling me. Someone that I knew quite well in WWE had heard the word on the street and said, "Oh my god, you're not going to believe this, but you're going to be getting a call from Vince McMahon in the next day or two." I had enough time to think about it before I actually got the call so I wasn't caught flat-footed. There was no way I was ever going to get caught up in the rat race of the corporate side or the creative side or the WWE's business. The first thing I said to Vince - against I'm paraphrasing this because I don't remember exactly - but when he called he said, "Hey, what do you think about coming to WWE?" No, I remember now. What he said to me was - because I'm sure he had heard from all these people who had told him the Evil Eric Bischoff stories - that Eric Bischoff would never do this, would never do that. Whatever the whatevers were I wouldn't do were, he asked me, "Is there anything you won't do?" I said, "Yeah. I won't move to Connecticut and I won't work in creative." [Eric imitating McMahon's voice] "Well, ha ha ha, pal, we shouldn't have a problem." I think we had a meeting of the minds going into it. I don't like the East Coast. I don't like visiting there. I love going to New York City for periods of time when the weather's good...

Keller: When the weather's good? You're a Minnesotan!

Bischoff: Not any more, brother. (laughs) My blood has thinned. I could never do it again. I would not want to get sucked into ...
