Elimination Chamber Reax

- Mike Omansky, PWTorch correspondent (6.5): Good show, and events like this add value to the WWE Network. Best Match: Owens-Cena. Worst Match: Elimination Chamber Tag Title match. The big item of the event is Owens's excellent performance against Cena, and establishing him as a major player.

The tag team elimination was awkward at times, and pretty unexciting. The IC Chamber match was good, and it was nice to see Ryback get a belt. Mark Henry was a credible substitute given Rusev's injury. Finally, Ambrose-Rollins was really good, in spite of the mandated screwy finish. The only problem with the match is that the regular interference in Rollins's matches by his heel allies is getting old.

- Derrick in Utah (6.5): It was a tale of two shows. The good (Owens-Cena and Rollins0Ambrose) was really good. In fact, I would say Cena and Owens was great. The bad (the Elimination Chamber matches and Divas match) was quite bad. In fact, these were probably two of the worst Elimination Chamber matches I have seen. I have slanted this way for many years now, but tonight I will strongly declare: I want to see straight up wrestling matches with all of the rules enforced. No more gimmick matches. They have been used at excess and no longer serve a purpose.

Other thoughts: The tag team Chamber match was bad. When you have too many guys doing too many spots, you have too much room for error. In this match, there were a lot of errors. Lots of ambitious ideas, but only about half were pulled off. ... The women's match was atrocious. Paige was in the wrong place the whole time. The timing was way off. ... Cena-Owens was everything every fan could have asked for. It was a highlight reel for Kevin Owens and a testament to the confidence and ability of John Cena. Cena’s goal was to make a star, and Owens did not need much help. It is also refreshing to know that when the announce team wants to, they can help put somebody over. It makes you wonder why they do not do it more often. ... With the exception of the final battle between Ryback and Sheamus, which was pretty good, the IC Title Chamber match was a disaster. ... I enjoyed the main event. The crowd was tired, but the solid work stirred them into frenzy towards the final stages. The Dusty Finish accomplished what it was supposed to accomplish; it produced a roller-coaster reaction from the live crowd. The fact that many people will complain and critique the finish serves its designed purpose.

- Jeremy Quist of Ripplemead, Va. (7.5): Best Match: Cena vs. Owens. Worst Match: Neville vs. Bo. John losing clean to Kevin Owens in his first-ever main roster match was epic. I had never watched Owens wrestle before and I was in awe. I have never seen a fat guy with an outstanding arsenal of moves like that. For a guy my size to jump and twist from the second rope to the top into a moonsault was impressive. Vader did the moonsault, but he could not jump and twist from rope to rope. Also, the side suplex from the top I had never seen by anyone. I've never seen a guy Owens size flip into the corner on his opponent. How about the move where Owens flipped Cena behind his back? Owens immediately became my second favorite active wrestler behind Daniel Bryan last night. I praise John Cena for giving his all in a match that he was booked to lose clean.

Neville versus Bo may not even have been that bad, but trying to follow a Match of the Year contender gave them no prayer to gain anyone's attention... I really enjoyed the Tag Team EC match and I thought it was better than the IC Title match. New Day is a fun heel gimmick. As for the IC match, I really do not see the fans getting behind Ryback, but time will tell. Rusev was greatly missed, Mark Henry was an after-thought, and so was R-Truth. Barrett being eliminated first seemed strange, but he made the most of the time he was given. I was hoping for more from Dolph Ziggler in the EC, but he wasn't bad... I thought the women were better than normal, but that isn't saying much... I felt like Ambrose and Rollins started slow, but they picked things up toward the middle. I enjoyed the idea they came up with for the finish and I look forward to seeing the story unfold on Raw. Lastly, I would recommend that they put the Owens versus Cena re-match on last at MITB. I know it is unorthodox, but every match that tries to follow them will feel less important than it would otherwise.
