WWE Payback PPV Reax

-- Derrick from Utah (7.0): At the beginning of the main event, my thumb was pointed neutral. The quality of the in-ring action and the execution of the prevailing story in the main event moved my thumb from east to north. From top to bottom, the roster put in an A effort. Moreover, the bookers (creative team) deserve some credit for the success of the show. Obviously they were not bullet proof, but the show offered a diverse and creative array of finishes that appeared to be appropriate for the matches on an individual basis and suitable for the show as a whole.

The Fatal Four-way title match was great. Character contrasts, relationship history, plots, subplots, peaks, valleys, and good in-ring action created an exciting and fulfilling capstone to a good event. This is what a "B" Level PPV event should be.

-- Marcus Corkland of Baltimore, Md. (8.0): Best Match: Cena vs. Rusev. Worst Match: None. Sunday's show was a great example that WWE can create a solid PPV. With there only being 7 matches, each match was given a fair amount of time.

Cena and Rusev absolutely went at it and there were times when I thought the match would end and it kept going. Rusev looks great after the loss and Cena is a strong U.S. champ. The Fatal Four-Way Title match was another great contest. All four men did a great job of holding their own, the crowd was on fire, and I thought the interference from The Authority wasn't overdone. Rollins needed a strong win and tonight was it. The Tag Title match was the next best match. New Day, Kidd, and Cesaro work very well together. Even though the first fall came quickly, the pace of the match was perfect. Kidd and Cesaro are awesome to watch and New Day are the best heels in the company right now.

Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus had a solid match, which I expected Sheamus to win. Ziggler busted himself really good. Later, King Barrett losing by count-out to Neville was a surprise. Their match was solid and it worked. Great "out" for Barrett and good way to show the Red Arrow. Meanwhile, Bray Wyatt was over and Ryback was not. It's amazing how cool Wyatt is and how bland Ryback is at times. The audience had no reason to invest in Ryback. They had a hard-hitting match and the right man won. I thought the Divas match was also solid. Not overly great but a good tag match. They actually got seven minutes, which is a plus in my book. I also didn't see many people heading for the bathroom as most people say. Maybe they feel it's the cool thing to do, but I stayed in my seat and I enjoyed it.

The Adam Jones bit with New Day drew massive heat. If anyone didn't know, Adam Jones is a huge huge WWE fan. As for the pre-show, it was what it was. I did not expect The Ascension to win their match, and Mandow seemed over with the crowd and Axel got a bit of the rub from it. Maybe WWE gave Ascension a win because of the Tag Title Elimination Chamber. As for R-Truth vs. Stardust, both stars earned good reactions for what was presented as a dark match.
