TNA Impact Reax 1/7

-- Matthew S. in Texas (5.5): I thought Dixie Carter said we could expect some changes from the old TNA product? This looked like the same TNA to me. As for the show, I thought it was so-so. I don't understand why every main event in every televised American wrestling show has to end with run-ins and ref bumps. Can we just get a clean finish once in a while? I don't need six swerves at the end of every show. *Especially* with Vince Russo not there now. Roode-Lashley was good aside from that, and I still dig the X Division.

The crowd was pretty hot for the big spots and I can see myself getting into this product more if they can make a few tweaks, especially with the story structure and pacing, but I won't hold my breath. Also, TNA: stop trying to emulate WWE's camera work. It's the worst thing about their product and what you rip off most. I hate the fast-zooms on spots and over-editing causing us to miss action. TNA has a chance to provide the better *WRESTLING* product in the U.S. Give me that and I'll give you my money.

-- Rene, PWTorch reader (8.0): Finally. TNA figured it out. Keeping it simple, but interesting. Great intro to get us hyped. Great job showcasing what makes this brand different (atmosphere, in-ring action, athletics). And wonderful job hyping the main event throughout show. The announcing was refreshing! Good to hear matches called without forced kindergarten jokes, cheap plugs, and long tangents.

-- Jon (@jdash222): 5.0 score. Why? A 5.0 is generous, but I don't want to score it lower because the wrestlers don't deserve to be punished for the continued misdirection of their management. You mean to tell me after all this time and effort put into planning for this grand moment and that's the best you can do? The same problems that plagued Impact before 2015.

The whole show went by with numerous championship matches and backstage segments, but not once was the audience given a reason to invest in the action or the characters. The best opportunity for the viewer to invest in someone or something came from Jeremy Borash (a non-wrestler!) getting his head shaved. On a show with numerous, what should be, epic meaningful title fights and the return of a dominant monster in the women's division, Impact gave the viewers not one ounce of substance for any of it. It all just happened with no real sense of importance to any of it, besides the aforementioned head-shaving. I had high hopes going in, but now I'm left wondering if Impact will see 2016.
