WWE PPV Reax #1: Strong reactions to Extreme Rules PPV quality; Lesnar losing to Cena dominates feedback

-- WWE Extreme Rules PPV Reax 4/29

Ben Williams of Chicago, Ill., student (8.0): Best Match: Bryan-Sheamus. Worst Match: Divas. I really enjoyed the match quality on the PPV. Everything was what it needed to be. Orton-Kane was nothing special, but a decent brawl. Ryback got a win on pay-per-view and my only complaint is the Divas match (and the finish of the last match). Sheamus-Bryan really, really impressed me and the one-year-long wait for that was worth it. The falls were creative and progressed the story very well. Punk-Jericho started out slowly, but it was necessary for the rest of the match, and the last half of the match was stellar. Now, Cena-Lesnar. I was skeptical coming in, but that was the perfect match for them aside from the finish. Lesnar looked absolutely brutal! He may not be the safest worker, but he really brought a fire out of John Cena, who hit back just as hard. The crowd was pumped and Cena looked vulnerable. Then came Super Cena YET AGAIN. He got dominated the whole match, came back at the last second, and won. Where do they go from here? I believe Lesnar is incredibly weakened from this loss, and Super Cena is back, which was clear with his smiley antics afterward. Nothing changed. Cena did not evolve, and I believe it's the wrong choice. Then, Cena's promo afterward shocked me. Why is he leaving for a while? It's ironic considering his feud with The Rock. Overall, a sour taste was left in my mouth, but with a hint of sweet. The sweet being that even if Super Cena returned, he's gone for a while.

Jesse M. of Harrisburg, Pa. (8.0): Best Match: Bryan-Sheamus. Worst Match: Ziggler-Clay. I thought this was a strong PPV with a hot crowd to make it more enjoyable. Coming in, my expectations were low with three No DQ matches, but each match told a different story and had a different feel. Daniel Bryan should be pushed to the moon. Period. I'm in Yes-Mania... Punk and Jericho was what you would want out of two fantastic wrestlers. Notice that forbidden word tucked in there... And, finally, Lesnar and Cena. I hope WWE has a plan, as Lesnar may have just lost all of his heat as an unstoppable monster. I didn't see a need for Super Cena to return, but it is what it is. I'm going to give WWE the benefit of the doubt, but I hope they didn't just blow it like they did with the Nexus. Oh by the way... YES YES YES.

Kevin, PWTorch reader: There is no best match. There is no worst. The fact is, on Brock Lesnar's PPV return match, he lost. If you want a Hogan circa 1990 type of feel, then congrats, WWE, you have achieved it. There was only one match that meant anything on this PPV, and that was Cena-Lesnar, and it ended like any Cena match ever has. I'm sick of Cena winning, and now they've done it at the expense of a legit moneymaker. Who cares who Brock faces next? He's lost to Cena, the only guy in the whole company that means anything, so who cares if he beats Orton at Summerslam? No one, because it doesn't matter now. Lesnar is just like everyone else who has fallen under the dark cloud that is John Cena's dominance. I'm one of those crazy people that spends thousands every year to travel to Mania, but WWE isn't getting my money anymore. I'm officially done with this ****.
