-- 5/20 Question of the Day Reax: What are your top memories of Randy Savage's career and life?

Howard of Tampa, Fla.: Early '80s down in Mid-South Wrestling when he tagged with a heel Lanny Poffo, managed by his dad, Angelo, and having a feud with the Rock 'n Roll
Express. Randy piledrove Morton through a table outside the ring (and in those days, they used actual tables). Good stuff.

Hole N., PWTorch reader: Savage was truly one of a kind and my favorite wrestler back in the '80s. I'll always remember his classics with Steamboat, Hogan, and Warrior as well as WrestleMania 4 tournament title win. I've always felt he was Mr. WrestleMania before HBK took it to the next level.

Bob Anderson of Turnersville, N.J.: Two quick ones - Seeing Jake Roberts's cobra attaching itself to Randy's arm is probably the most shocking thing I've ever seen in wrestling. Also, hearing Roddy Piper refer to Randy as "Gravel Gertie" during a promo was one of the funniest things ever. I'm laughing as I write this. Rest in peace, Randy.

Pradeep Kachhala, PWTorch reader: Wow, I can't believe he died. I was certain he was a shoe-in for the Anonymous GM, especially as he was becoming increasingly mentioned in WWE. Favorite memory? His match vs. Flair at WrestleMania 8 that stole the show.

Zach, PWTorch reader: My favorite memory of Macho Man will be his never-ending charisma and intensity. His facial expressions were amazing in and out of the ring. When Savage would grab that microphone you had to listen! From his hilarious interviews in then-WWF, all the way to his intense WCW days, Savage knew how to draw your attention and keep it. I hope WWE will put together an amazing video package like no other. Macho Man will live on in our hearts and memories forever as one of the very best! Dig it!

Damon, PWTorch reader: Macho was feuding with Beefcake and I think it came to a head on a summer edition of SNME. Macho said during his promo "You're all invited to a Summer BBQ and we're gonna roast the biggest hot dog of them all," referring to Beefcake. Sherri (RIP) was with him at the time and she went on to call Beefcake a weenie! Macho was great with promos. I'm going to miss him. I'm going to miss thinking about when he was ever going to re-appear and just drop one more elbow. He would have been in my Hall of Fame a long time ago.

Eric, PWTorch reader: One of the best ever, but I think of Jake "the Snake" and Undertaker ruining his wedding reception. Seriously, how funny is that thinking about it now?

Jason of Wenatchee, Wash.: Savage was easily my favorite ever, and became my best impression, as well. When I, in full character, spoke to Rowdy Roddy Piper as the Macho Man, he exclaimed to me, "S--- kid! You do that better than HE does!" When he spoke, I really believed he was insanely prepared to inflict bodily harm on anyone in his vicinity. For that performer, that is truly "Mission Accomplished." Now, WWE needs to get this true icon into the Hall of Fame.

Jamie of Tacoma, Wash.: It's too difficult to pick just one favorite Macho Man moment. He had an awesome career from his incredible Intercontinental Title matches with Ricky Steamboat to his amazing WWE Title run all the way to his WCW/NWO run. He was and always will be my favorite wrestler. I had hoped that despite his age, he would be involved in one other storyline in a current organization. He will be deeply missed by every wrestling fan of my generation. R.I.P., Randy.

Isaac, PWTorch reader: When Papa Shango turned him into a midget.

Mo, PWTorch reader: I'm getting ready to watch his DVD again. My friends and I have an annual argument at the Royal Rumble - will this finally be the year he goes into the Hall of Fame? I hope Vince does the right thing this time.

Mark of Rolling Meadows, Ill.: My favorite memory of the Macho Man was his WWE Title win at WrestleMania 4. As a young fan, I was certain that Hogan was going to win back the title that he was “screwed out of“ at SNME (actually Friday). Hogan was the only champion that I knew. I had become a huge Macho Man fan during his feud with the Honky Tonk Man, but I did not look at him at that “World Title” level. My eyes were then opened that someone else could be a top “good guy." Though that WrestleMania is considered one of the weaker efforts from the WWE, it holds a special place in my heart because I was truly surprised at the outcome. A second choice would be his retirement match with the Ultimate Warrior. Even though I was a fan of Warrior, he owes a big part of his legacy to his feud with Macho Man.

We still welcome your reflections on Savage's career and life sent to pwtorch@gmail.com for our Question of the Day feature.
