10/13 Question of the Day Reax #2: More feedback on whether there's intrigue for Dave Bautista in MMA, how the intrigue of Kurt Angle in MMA would compare

-- 10/13 Question of the Day Reax: Are you intrigued by the possibility of watching Dave Bautista fight in MMA...and would you pay to see a Batista fight?

Josh Macala of Houston, Tex.: What people fail to realize is that Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature... Batista is not. I think Batista fighting an actual contender would have similar results to the James Toney-Randy Couture fight. If there weren't weight classes, Batista would probably rely on his size and power and get his arm broken by B.J. Penn. As harsh as it may sound, the only interest I have in Batista in MMA would be seeing him getting his ass kicked. But much like with James Toney, I wouldn't pay to see it.

Ricky Clark of Oklahoma City, Okla.: Bautista is not a mixed martial artist, as I think he's looking for the big payout from fighting every 4-6 months in MMA. People forget that Brock Lesnar was a great talent in collegiate wrestling. With no fights on his record, Bautista will not be able to jump into any mix with the top four guys in Strikforce: Fedor, Overeem, "Bigfoot" Silva, or Werdum. The best thing about Strikeforce is they put on the "freak" fights and the best option would be putting him against H. Walker, Rogers, or Bobby Lashley. None of these sound interesting.

Romeo Montague, Torch reader: In regards to if I will pay to see him fight or not, no, I would not pay to see him, especially since it's known that Booker T fixed his business for him at that Summerslam commercial taping five years ago. The word from some wrestlers I've talked to as security at Air Canada Center in Toronto have said Booker may have had the black eye, but he basically slapped up Batista. I would pay to see the Bautista-Booker re-match, though!

James C. of Dublin Ireland: Am I intrigued? Absolutely. Would I pay to watch him fight? Nope. But I would definitely find a way to watch it as it would be fascinating to see him in a genuine fight. Personally, I think he'd flop if he got into MMA, but I would admire his courage if he gave it a go. I've no doubt his size and power would pose a threat to some opponents, although I imagine a first round knockout or tapout would be the most likely outcome. However, if I were Strikeforce, I'd be more interested in headhunting Kurt Angle. Let's be honest, despite his crippling injuries and age, Angle would legitimately have a chance of achieving success in a brief MMA career. I've always wanted to see him have at least one showcase match against the likes of Randy Coutre, Kimbo Slice, Daniel Puder, or even Lashley/Batista. If Angle won the Strikeforce Hvt. title while Brock still held the UFC Hvt. Title, people would be desperate to see a match between the pair. Of course, this would be impossible to work out, but the debate itself would do wonders for Strikeforce's awareness. In other words, I'm intrigued to see a Batista fight, but would be far more intrigued if it were Angle we were talking about. An Olympic gold medalist with a household name would offer far more to the sport than seeing a "bodybuilder" likely get crushed.
