WWE Raw Reax #2: Strong reviews of Miz-Bryan promo, readers react to Jericho storyline, PPV price too high to justify Night of Champions buy?

-- 9/6 WWE Raw Reax

Bob Bamber of Torquay, England (9.0): Best Match: Justin Gabriel vs. John Cena. Worst Match: Edge vs. The Great Khali. I thought this was a strong edition of Raw all around. The opening segment wasn't groundbreaking, but hyped the main event well. Jericho and Morrison has a really good match with a nice surprise finish. Gabriel looked at home against Cena, and it's a real shame Gabriel hasn't developed as a talker yet, because he's so talented in the ring. Speaking of talking, how good is The Miz? The material in the promo was decent, but he executed it really well. And even Daniel Bryan looked strong on the mic in their segment. After that segment, I'm much more excited about the U.S. Title match than the now-Five-Pack Challenge. Edge-Khali is what it is, but it could've been much worse. I'm enjoying Edge's work quite a bit at the moment, though. I thought the main event was good to top off a very good show. I'm not sure what to think about Darren Young, but if the pay-off is solid, then it could be a good thing.

A.A. Norman of Tulsa, Okla. (9.0): Best: Miz and Nexus promos. Worst: Khali-Edge finish. The show was good enough to make me want to turn away from the epic Boise State vs. Virginia Tech college football battle, but until WWE gives up their lame "communal viewing" argument and lowers their PPV price, I simply cannot justify buying a PPV, even if I'm intrigued by some of the upcoming matchups, which they did a good job to selling and setting up on Raw. Daniel Bryan vs. Miz has great potential and I enjoyed Miz's recap of his career thus far, as well as Bryan's interruption. I also like the fact that they are getting new blood involved with established stars and even giving them a fighting chance and a little credibility with the Nexus storyline. But, that price tag for the PPV and plunking down $40-$50 for recent shows means that I'm holding off something more special than Night of Champions.

Blake Reilly, Frontier Ramper (8.5): Best: Cena-Gabriel and Miz-Bryan promo exchange. Worst Match: Edge-Khali (even though Edge was hysterical). I really enjoyed this show last night. It had to be a drastic step up after last week's terrible 900th show. The highlight for me by far was Miz and Daniel Bryan. I knew Miz was going to unveil his cover, as I got in the mail last week, but I didn't expect the story and road he took the viewers on. Daniel Bryan made me laugh really hard with his comments and I am looking forward to seeing Bryan beat Miz for the U.S. Title. As for the rest of the show, Nexus looked really good in the opening segment, Justin Gabriel looked great in his match with Cena, and Barrett lost because of Darren Young. I hate to say it, but I'm looking forward to Cena-Orton next week. They never seem to disappoint when they wrestle each other. The only moment of note was Jericho losing to John Morrison. It was a big surprise and I hope they put Jo-Mo in the Six-Pack Challenge match. He has no chance of winning, but after that showing and his promo with Jericho backstage, he deserves the spotlight. Overall, a really good show.
