WrestleMania Reax #1: "Bret vs. Vince was so-so, but had the right finish"

-- 3/28 WWE WrestleMania 26 Reax

Mike Omansky (6.5): Best Match: Undertaker-Michaels. Worst Match: Divas tag. Good show overall. In addition to the Undertaker-Michaels match, the Jericho-Edge and the Batista-Cena bouts were both first rate good. Triple H-Sheamus very respectable, and Sheamus looked the best that he has even in losing. It was great to see Swagger get the "Money in the Bank" win -- he has been underutilized. The rest of the card pretty solid, including the Big Show tag opener. Bret vs. Vince was so-so, but had the right finish.

John C. of Toronto, Ont. (0.0): Best Match: Taker-Michaels. Too bad I've seen it many times before. Worst Match: 10-divas tag. Can Vickie please go away now? Cena-Batista was awkward and clunky (and Cena won, which was annoying in itself). Edge-Jericho was okay, but slow at times and not what we've come to expect from these two. Bret-Vince, bad? Yes, but I really had no expectations to begin with. I think we all knew we wouldn't be seeing "The Hitman" tonight. The only real surprise was Swagger going over in MITB. I thought it was the wrong choice to be sure, but still surprising. That said, by far the worst thing about this show? Michael Cole's announcing. How can anyone be a wrestling announcer for as long as he has and show zero improvement whatever? It's beyond me. I miss JR. So why did I watch it? Because the alternative is TNA.

Jimmy Eaton of Kissimmee, Fla., IT technician. (9.0): Best Match: HBK vs. Undertaker II. Worst Match: Divas. Seriously, if anyone says anything else, you need clinical help. This was easily one of my favorite WrestleManias ever. Bar none. I loved the show. Of course it wasn't perfect but of course the epic ending sealed it for me. Some matches were slower but I really enjoyed them. Only key downside for me was the horrible Divas match and the Hart-McMahon match that went a bit long. I think the two title matches were very well done and went old-school with more ring psychology over fast-paced action that Taker-HBK gave us. Punk-Rey along with the tag match were too short for me, and while I enjoyed them, it's annoying that they don't get the time when the Divas match could have been on the pre-show and the Hart-McMahon contest could have been a bit shorter. The triple threat match along with Hunter-Sheamus I thought were both good. To be honest, Hunter and Sheamus probably had the undercard match of the night. MITB was a blast as always with some fun innovation and a surprise winner in Mr. Swagger. Hopefully this elevates him to the next level. All in all, Bret Hart I think came off looking just fine and as for HBK and Taker, I thought it was better than last year. I didn't think it could be done, but it was. I was shocked at the end in some ways, but less so when I found out it was last. Memorable, touching, and just a fantastic end (for now, at least) to Shawn Michaels's historic career. I can't wait to go to WM27 next year for sure and this is why I love wrestling.
