WWE Raw Reax #4: Somewhere during the Jerry Springer skit, Finlay was stunned thinking, "I'm going to be a grandfather!"

-- 2/15 WWE Raw Reax

John of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Writer. (1.5): Best Match (by default): Orton vs. Sheamus. Worst: Springer "skit." When the guest host concept started, it was my idea that WWE would want the guest hosts to interact with the Raw stars. They would make matches, and be a quasi-authority figure for the night. That has only been totally the case with Shaq, Ben Rothelisberger, and maybe Bob Barker and Ozzy Osbourne. Last night didn't do much to get a fan to plunk down their money for the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. From the looks of things, smart fans will save their money to purchase WrestleMania 26. The Orton vs. Sheamus ending with Randy delivering the RKO to Sheamus made me subconsciously hear Jim Ross's voice. "STONE COLD! STONE COLD!" I thought for a second Randy would be looking for someone to toss him beer cans. I thought they did a sloppy job of writing out Bret Hart until WrestleMania. It should have been Batista attacking Bret in the back. He was coming to confront John Cena - it would have made perfect sense. No, we got another poorly done "accident." And wouldn't a true hero/babyface not give up getting revenge? The old Hitman never quit pursing the title in his wrestling career. Batista has been the best heel on either brand since his turn. He's ten times more a badass then when he was a bodyguard for Evolution. He has done everything perfectly to make fans forget he was ever a hero while revitalizing his career. I thought the tag match between MVP and Mark Henry vs. Showmiz was dragging and boring. Who did that music remix? It pained me to see Big Show move slowly and trip over Henry at one point. He made the Great Khali look like a luchador. And we didn't need him doing retro-Vader. I'd rather see a return to heel by MVP. ... What a waste of time to do a faux-pax Jerry Springer show. Somewhere, Finlay was stunned thinking, "I'm going to be a grandfather!" It was fun to see Mae Young again, but I miss the Fabulous Moolah. Maybe WWE is getting these lousy skits out of their system on Raw before they have to go against TNA in a few weeks. I was a bit puzzled by the announcement of Antonio Inoki to the Hall of Fame, but he has a world-wide following and he did appear in the old WWWF and WWF. Vince, put your pride aside and induct Randy Savage next. I loved the production values describing how the Elimination Chamber match works. And very conspicuously, there was no Shawn Michaels. I'm sticking by my guns he shows up on Smackdown and takes out R-Truth to get into the Chamber match to confront Undertaker.

Thom White of Dayton, Ohio (2.0): Best Match: Sheamus vs. Randy Orton. Worst Match: Everything else. There have been a ton of bad Raws in recent months, but this one may have been the worst episode yet. Other than the opening match, everything absolutely sucked about this show. The Bret Hart "injury" came across as pathetic. If McMahon is "behind it," then once again the WWE has insulted the fan's intelligence. How would McMahon "know" that Bret Hart's leg would be sticking out the door when the car rammed into him? What is more likely is Bret Hart "set up the injury" to try and convince McMahon to wrestle him at WrestleMania with Vince "thinking" Bret Hart is hurt. The Randy Orton potential face turn is interesting. That guy is money in the ring and is the only star currently at the top of the roster I am not sick of. The Jerry Springer segment may be the single worst segment in the history of Raw. The Great Khali has basically become a comedy act and the WWE has no idea of what to do with Kelly Kelly, who is definitely attractive, but lacks talent when it comes to wrestling. I actually like good women's wrestling and TNA does it pretty well as opposed to WWE. I don't blame Michael Cole for acting bored most of the time on Raw. Some of us clearly are watching at home.

Josh Macala of Houston, Tex., animal rescuer (7.0): Best Segment: ShowMiz vs. MVP/Henry. Worst Segment: Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Do I even need to point out the obvious that Jerry Springer on a PG show is just wrong? No offense, but I was waiting for them to drag out the corpse of Andrew "Test" Martin when Kelly Kelly came out. Yes, I could see WWE stooping that low, especially since that "waste of my life segment" made me actually agree with Khali. Argh. WWE, why do you frustrate me so? The only real wrestling I remember was the tag match, which is sad because it had Mark Henry in it. Maybe WWE can work out a sponsorship with Kool-Aid? When Bret Hart was "driven into," I swore he'd be back and healthy by the end of the night to avenge Vince or Batista. And what was the point of the main event? Sheamus came out, Trips and Cena were there, but Ted Jr. and Kofi didn't want to come out and actually pretend like they stood a chance in the Chamber? And I do not have high hopes for Jewel next week.
