-- 2/14 TNA Against All Odds PPV Reax

Steve Wilton of the U.K. (8.0): This was my first TNA PPV living in the U.K. ordering from the TNA website. The quality wasn't WWE on Sky TV, but it was cool to be able to watch TNA live for the first time. Thank God Bubba is gone and Jeremy Borash is back. I was really surprised by the finish of the Angle-Anderson match. I expected Angle to go over and felt it was his tournament, but Anderson got a nice rub from the Olympic legend and set up a feud that I hope carries on between the two. I didn't care for the "The next John Cena" Abyss vs. Mick Foley match at all, or the stupid barbwire bat angle. It doesn't look like Foley can go anymore and he looks like he's going through the motions. As a veteran, Foley should have stepped up and kicked some ass. It was the only spot on the show that really felt like lame WCW. I love how TNA is building Matt Morgan. I definitely want to see more and where they go with him. Team 3D vs. Nastys was fun. Despite all the flack TNA/Hogan are getting for the Nastys being there, I totally get it. They're a recognizable name to some degree and I had fun watching them in the ring again. Styles-Joe was the match of the night for me. Hogan's brief cameo was surprising for someone whose face was the biggest on the PPV poster, but I liked the Bischoff-Hogan tease. Did Bischoff need to have his shirt tucked in? Someone hasn't been taking their Hulkster energy granules. I tuned in to see the Hulkster and he was barely on the show. Instead, TNA focused on wrestling and I was amazed at what a show the company put on.

Richard H. of Wilmington, Ohio: I missed the PPV, but from reports, the only unexpected results were Anderson over Angle, Jimmy Hart's appearance, and Eric Bischoff playing nice. The Pope is really coming into his own and has potential to be great, but that was said a few years back in WWE. Just recall the New Blood angle in ECW when he first broke out.

David, Torch VIP member (8.5): I personally felt the PPV was either an 8.0 or a 9.0. I was very much into The Pope vs. Mr. Anderson match after The Pope kicked out of the Mic Check. I really thought that was the end of it and Mr. Anderson had won. I purchased Genesis and the Royal Rumble in January, but found this PPV to be the most entertaining of the bunch. For me, it wasn't a perfect 10, but it wasn't disappointing either. Nearly every match felt like it had a story to tell.

Brian, Torch VIP member: This show was not that good, sorry to tell you, TNA fans. A.J.-Joe was the best match, and it was on the low-end of what those two have done in the past. The focus of the match was more on Flair and Bischoff than it was A.J. and Joe. Foley-Abyss and Dudleys-Nastys were two horrendous matches. The rest of the show was eh. I like that they're pushing The Pope, but you have to wonder if he's really gonna get a serious push, or if he'll be taking a backseat to whatever Hogan, Bischoff, Foley etc. are doing. This was a middle of the road PPV at best. And that might even be generous.

Steve, Torch VIP member (6.0): I'd suggest the PPV was a 9.5 by TNA standards, which is totally different than WWE standards. If placed on the same scale, this event rates a solid 6.0 for me, which is still a half-point lower than my view on this year's lame Royal Rumble effort. I disagree with Caldwell that this was Pope's star-making night. All I saw here was the same guy who has the "it" factor and serious potential if pushed right (even though I don't see much of a future for the "Pope" character). The PPV puts him in the Lockdown main event, but this show didn't sell me on him. His past two months on TV sold me on him. He's simply NOT a star *yet*. The next several weeks of TV will determine that...and I have zero faith with Russo in there that it will happen the way I'm hoping. While it may sound like Russo-bashing, it's more like "fool me once, (or twice, or umpteen times) shame on you..." scenario. I just can't get too excited or too behind anything in TNA knowing that guy's history and track record.
