WWE Smackdown/Superstars Reax #1: "Even though the DX-Hart Dynasty match was good, DX ruined Smackdown the way they ruin Raw"

-- 12/25 WWE Smackdown Reax

Luke Fleeman of Tulare, Calif., grad student (5.0): Best Match: DX vs. Hart Dynasty. Worst Match: Layla/Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James/Maria. Usually, I look forward to Smackdown all week. Smackdown typically has more and better wrestling than any other show, the booking is more sound, and the show seems more focused. Also, without Triple H big-footing the whole show, it is more enjoyable. More stars seem to get a shot, and I like the roster. Well, that ended this week. Almost everything outside of DX was good, including the developments in the Rey-Batista-Taker feud. Rey is pretty much the ideal babyface for the PG direction, and he is a good wrestler to boot. Batista is doing great heel work, too. The Mickie James-as-fat saga is still galling, but Divas segments are about 45 seconds long, so it is not so noticeable. ... Even though the DX-Hart Dynasty match was good, DX ruined Smackdown the way they ruin Raw. They are not funny. Little people being mocked is not funny. Shilling merch is not funny. They are not entertaining. Triple H calling other people boring is ironic. No one in the company is as boring, stale, and sad to watch as Triple H. You also know that no other wrestler will ever get a leg up on them. No matter what, no one will seem as smart, competent, or cool as DX. And they will use the whole show to make that happen if they want. I want DX to go back to Raw.

-- 12/24 WWE Superstars Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best Match: Chavo vs. Primo. Worst Match: Jackson vs. Kozlov. This was one of those episodes that did what it was supposed to and not much more. Jackson-Kozlov was surprisingly not a total stinker, but it was mercifully kept short. If only those two were better in the ring. The "Marine 2" and Cena videos were expected. It was nice to see Christian getting props via video, and it was also a nice surprise that the Rey-Batista feud and not the "Little People's Court" segment were featred in the Rebound. It made more sense to focus on Smackdown with it looming a night later. The less said about the whole DX court date, the better. Except for one thing - with Hornswoggle focused on DX, Chavo was able to have a match again. Yay! I hated having this paranoid feeling Hornswoggle would make a run-in throughout the match with Primo, but it was nice to know that it was for nothing. With Chavo the focus on commentary, maybe there is a bit of bright light at the end of the tunnel. One can hope, right? Drew McIntyre did a nice job preening in his promo to set up what will be the Morrison-McIntyre re-match. But, I keep feeling that Morrison is being set up to fail on the mic. He got off to a decent start, then seemed obsessed with enunciation, which took down his promo. Can a storyline where the combatants respectfully enjoy being sado-masochists to each other be called a feud? Whatever it is between Kane and Knox, they turned in a rather decent match. Not a masterpiece, mind you, but decent for two guys. Mike Knox seems underrated to a degree after his recent showings. In the end, a nice if unspectacular outing.
