Steve H. of California. Best: Cena vs. Swagger. Worst: obviously everything involving DX. First off, thank God for the DVR. I can't imagine having to sit through that DX non-sense otherwise. Are you kidding me? How did that make it on TV? Oh yeah, Triple H. Also, why is Hornswoggle still on my TV? I've been asking that question for a year-and-a-half. Putting him with DX is the only possible way to make them even more obnoxious. It would be nice if the show was actually centered around, um, I don't know, the WWE champion. I guess that's too much to ask. Hopefully they don't put the belt back on Cena. That would be a huge step back. By the way, WWE, Jack Swagger has it. Don't know if you noticed that or not. The Legacy vs. Kofi, Henry, and Bourne six-man tag match was good. I'm curious to see where Legacy goes from here and whether or not WWE breaks them up. The less said about the Tiger Woods thing the better. And it's always good to see Dusty Rhodes, no matter how much he's watered down now.
I wish I could say I had faith in TNA to give Vince a run for his money, but I don't. I'm looking forward to seeing what WWE does with Bret Hart. Other than that, there's not much to look forward to.
Samantha of Washington, D.C. (4.0): Best Match: Legacy vs. Kofi Kingston & Mark Henry & Evan Bourne. Worst Segment: Little People's Court. I give this show a 4.0 only because of the six-man tag match, Cena vs. Swagger, and The Miz's promo. The tag match saw great work from all of the guys, but I loved that Bourne was able to do Air Bourne because that move never fails to impress me. Cena vs. Swagger was a pleasant surprise in that it was not a Cena squash match. I was very impressed with the offense that Swagger got in and I actually believed - for a second - that he could win. This could be a nice feud in the future. The Miz's promo was very funny and I always enjoy his mic work. ... It makes me very sad that a generation of children under 12 or 13-years-old will best remember Shawn Michaels as a goofy sidekick who wanted a pet midget. My, how the mighty have fallen. Why did they feel the need to replay that? Hearing Michael Cole and The King laugh about it only increased my desire to throw a shoe at my TV screen. I mean, get real. Am I really supposed to believe that two men in their 40s believe the ring is like the White Rabbit's hole and that underneath it lies Munchkin Land?! The Undertaker doesn't even do stupid stuff like this. If it weren't for Bret Hart, I would be watching TNA Impact on January 4 for sure. Even Vince Russo never had ideas this ridiculous.
Adam of Edmonton, Alb. (0.0). Best: Maryse’s outfit. Worst: Everything else. Wow. Just wow. There are almost no words anymore to describe the trainwreck that is Monday Night Raw. There is little-to-nothing to enjoy about Raw unless you're under the age of ten. There are no more engaging feuds, as Sheamus-Cena and Kingston-Orton are all but dead. The guest hosts are becoming worse by the week, as Johnny Damon was seemingly clueless as per most of the guest hosts lately. Sheamus only received about five minutes of airtime while DX and Hornswoggle got at least 20 minutes to do their god-awful Little People’s Court. This was not a step in the right direction. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if the WWE writing staff actually consists of adults. WWE’s product is so mind-numbing that it’s impossible to take even their major feuds seriously. I don’t know anybody who is enjoying this DX-Hornswoggle business because it is impossible to watch. Shawn Michaels’s legendary status is being compromised for cheap plugs and a stupid angle that nobody really cares about (unless you're under the age of 10). And that’s sad, especially since he got the whole world buzzing last week with his WrestleMania re-match challenge, then went back to the same stuff this week. TNA is in a lot more advantageous position to sweep the wrestling world off its feet than WWE is right now due to the fact that TNA had two ****+ matches at Final Resolution, which is something WWE hasn’t delivered in a very long time. I am truly hoping the TNA hype is going to really lead to change in WWE because I don't think I could sit through Raw for much longer. Overall, this was another in the long list of Raws we could deem as "Epic Fails" for 2009 and judging by the match listing for next week, we can expect the next decade to start off just like this one ended off. I truly believe Caldwell is right, an era is ending with the end of this decade and I truly hope the TNA Revolution is swift and effective. Happy Holidays fellow Torch Readers. Have a safe one!
