WWE Raw Reax #2: "It's amazing how a bad heel character can become loved so quickly by sticking up for a little person and flexing his pecs"

-- 12/7 WWE Raw Reax

Matthew Robins of Chicago, Ill. (5.0): Poor Gail Kim. Tell me why she left top tier storylines in TNA, only to carry a two-minute match and lose by feet on the ropes? Granted, those feet are attached to some amazing legs. Anyway, everything else was pretty ho hum and if they don't give the title to Sheamus this Sunday. Dolph Ziggler came so close earlier in the year to Intercontinental gold, then lost again and again, and now wrestles WWE Superstars main events vs. a guy who can hardly walk without looking like he has a pegleg. Sorry, Matt. When the announcers called Matt's match with Dolph a matchup of young stars, I chuckled, since you've been in the squared circle for well over ten years. If Matt Hardy is young in wrestling terms, then Chris Masters is going to be the next Great Khali. It's amazing how a bad heel character that gets no reaction from the crowd can become loved so quickly by sticking up for a little person wrestler and doing the stupidest of things (pec flexing). Give him the TV Title! Oops. One last thought. Doesn't Mark Cuban own HD TV, which broadcasts ROH? It would have been nice to see him support/promote a company on his own station, which could actually benefit from the exposure. On second thought, these guest hosts should leave the real wrestling shows alone. WWE is sports entertainment, of course!

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.0): Best: Legacy vs. Bourne/Primo; DX holiday plug. Worst: Cena vs. Carlito; still too much Hornswoggle (despite Best pick). This was a much better last-chance show than the one for Survivor Series was. Mark Cuban was flaky on the mic, but served his purpose well for the most part. I did like that he was a more hands-on GM as opposed to most who call the shots from a distance. The uber-fast count on Orton couldn't really be heard, though, which took away from the reaction it could have had. Having no other nearfalls to gauge from didn't help, either. I balance out Cuban's lax officiating with taking one for the team via Sheamus. Sheamus is going to TLC looking very strong, but I don't expect it to mean much come Sunday. And faster than Miz's build toward Cena, Carlito was back under the dirt. Even my friends who buy into everything were surprised that Miz beat Mark Henry. Frankly, so was I, and pleasantly. Like last year, DXs holiday shopping plugs were fun in their rightful context. Hornswoggle in this case fit the spot as it played to his mischievous character. But I'm getting
tired of him winning every week, either in matches or in segments. Maybe now that Masters has turned face we can now see what he's more capable of in the ring. I wasn't thrilled with the no-finish end of the DX-Jericho match, but it needed to be done to cast some doubt on the PPV result. I'm still seeing a brief DX run. Jericho needs off double duty (anyone noticing his right knee brace?) and Show's being protected for own his knee trouble. I don't expect a long DX reign; just enough to say "we did it" and set a course to put the belts on someone else other than JeriShow. Maybe Legacy...maybe.
