John of Cocoa Beach, Fla. (3.5): Best match: Kofi-Orton. Worst match: Trips vs. Jericho. Once again, WWE's revisionist policy strikes again. Mark Henry has no personality? Did they forget Sexual Chocolate? Mark, stick to wrestling. That rap gave me flashbacks of P.N. News. So, WWE is trying to tell me Degeneration X has only been two guys and they've been close friends for 12 years. No skit where they made fun of the Nation of Domination with Triple H as the Rock? X-Pac as Bizmark? No Billy Gunn and Road Dogg? They never showed up on WCW in an army tank? You mean Triple H wasn't Shawn Michaels's assailant a few years ago? Jim Ross never had an in-ring summit with the-then feuding HBK and Triple H asking them to bury the hatchet? It was all a dream, like the Little People's Court? There were times Raw was so boring, I thought the GM for the night was Verne...Gagne! But there were good points. The run-ins by Legacy on Kofi Kingston reminded me of the days when the Midnight Express would jump The Rock & Roll Express. The in-ring conversation of the referee checking on Kingston was a little overdone. Maybe it was WWE's way of exploiting the NFL's new strong stance towards concussions? This helped re-elevate Orton in the feud without totally squashing Kofi. The Santino-Sheamus interaction was good to further establish Sheamus, but I just don't quite yet see the sense of invincibility from the Celtic Warrior like you had with Umaga. Carlito got his five seconds of fame, and more than likely sooner than later a trip to ECW or the land of "future endeavors." Verne Troyer and The Miz interacting was really funny. Too bad Kelly Kelly didn't come out as Felicity Shagwell. The Melina-Maryse feud has really impressed me with both Divas's wrestling skills and emotion. Meanwhile, Gail Kim has fallen totally off the radar. A brand switch or heel turn is desperately needed. Raw was in Baltimore, an NFL city, and no Ravens at ringside? Finally, having DX on the blue show can mean a great storyline between the now heel Batista and Triple H over which was better, DX or Evolution.
Jarel Barnes of Norfolk, Va., college student (6.0): Best: Jericho and Big Show promo. Worst: Midget jokes and Mark Henry. Verne Troyer as host was completely irrelevant and not interesting at all. The guy had a funny segment with the Jillian segment, but I wish WWE would just let her go already. At any rate, we all were treated to Mark "The World's Strongest Santa" Henry's horrible rap skills as "Powerballin" keeps showing up in dumb segments wearing ridiculous Christmas red outfits. MVP and Mark Henry deserve better gimmicks than that. I loved how Carlito came out of nowhere and approached John Cena. WWE dropped the ball by not having someone mention the rivalry between Carlito and Cena a few years back. That would have let new fans know that there is history between these two. Carlito should clean up his look by either braiding or cutting his hair and shedding the light color schemes like his brother because he is a heel. They shouldn't have had Cena smash Carlito, but if they wanted to go that route, they should have sent out other wrestlers from the undercard one-by-one approaching Cena until Sheamus came out. DX, as much as they are entertaining and funny, need to drop the dumb Little People's Court storyline. It's ridiculous storylines like these that I believe hurt the ratings. Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton were great again. I loved that Orton got a shot in dominating Kingston. They just need to have Kingston drop the Jamaican music and have a decent theme song and a new look for him. The Jamaican/Ghana colors don't reflect a serious wrestler. If they want to use the colors, they should make the design smaller so it wouldn't look as corny. The black sweatpants he used to wear would be a great look to cover up his chicken legs. It's all about presentation. WWE has no presence in that subject. Lastly, the main event was okay. I liked the ending because WWE finally did a roll up at the right time. This allowed for Triple H to finish a match without the Pedigree for once.
