Thursday Night TV Reax #1: "I feel anything TNA does right is inevitably drowned out by what they fail at" Nov 6, 2009 - 10:42:05 AM
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (6.0): Best: Jericho vs. Finlay. Worst: Raw Rebound Redux. 17 days until Survivor Series, and it's looking like TNA has bigger build toward its PPV. This time last month, fans were treated to replays of the Cena-Orton story, which made the title and their storyline seem like a big deal. What do we have now for WWE title build? Only that it's essentially DX vs. Cena, with very little in the DX column in terms of any dissension seed-planting. And the whole thing was buried this week by Hornswoggle and the Osbournes. But I was so happy that, for once, there was no Hornswoggle involvement in the Santino-Chavo match on the show. They turned in a fun little match. Santino is Teflon in terms of losses, so why did Chavo do the job? Swagger-Primo was a better and longer match this go-round, but why are they facing off again? Is there no one else for Swagger to face in his storyline? I hated the girlfriend question asked the Divas, but liked the question on how they handle nerves. If WWE wants the divas be treated seriously, more questions like the latter should be asked. The Yoshi and Rey-Batista videos were fine, but I could really have done without the Osbourne replay. Jericho-Finlay was a decent match. I hope Jericho was okay after the ugly bump he took when he missed Finlay's signature apron spot. At least WWE made the match seem important since Jericho is vying for the World Title. Wish there was more of it going toward one of The Big Four PPV.

Luke Fleeman of Tulare, Calif. (4.0): Best Match: Daniels vs. Styles. Worst Match: Homicide vs. Lashley. I feel that anything TNA does right is inevitably drowned out by what they fail at because they fail so hard. The A.J. vs. Daniels vs. Joe feud is developing satisfactorily, and even if Wolfe vs. Angle is awkward, at least a new star is being built in an angle with actual time and development. However, there are so many mind-boggling, head-scratching decisions that it is hard to enjoy the good stuff. Foley turns face, again, but I don't believe it because he seems to turn every week. Dr. Stevie should be getting someone coffee for a living, but is instead still stinking up my wrestling time. A week after almost paralyzing Sabin, Bubba Ray gives Hernandez a flush chair shot on the head. I hope he feels good when another wrestler suffers the horrendous consequences of such chair shots. Dixie's speech at the beginning had this pedantic, "you've made mom angry" tone. To me, it didn't seem celebratory. It was almost like she was warning the locker room not to dare disagree with the garbage booking. (By the way, I did not see Nash, Steiner, Angle, or Foley in the crowd.) It seemed like an insecure money-mark warning the boys that she is actually very savvy despite the fact that she has hired every huckster in the wrestling business. I didn't like it.
