TNA Impact Reax #2: "Hogan, as great as he was, is 15 years beyond his prime and he signed with a company touting their so-called youth movement" Oct 30, 2009 - 5:54:48 PM
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (5.0): Best: A.J.-Daniels-Joe build. Worst: Hogan coming to TNA. Never in my life have I seen a show so tainted by impending doom. It's crazy. Here we have Desmond Wolfe (the former Nigel McGuinness) coming to the ring to cut his trash-talk promo on Kurt Angle. But what do I hear Tenay and Taz talk all over about as he walks to the ring? Hulk Hogan joining TNA. Alissa Flash gets a good first start post-Saeed before Kong comes out and destroys both her and Tara. But are Taz and Tenay talking the match? Nope, more about Hulk Hogan. Only Sabin nearly getting his neck broken by that brutal Brother Ray uranage during the Guns-3D match did it disrupt the Hogan Express. The Amazing Red-Don West pairing got some sort of explanation. I'm not totally on the same page with it, but it will do
for now. I'm getting tired of obvious DQs being called "thrown out." This also didn't bode well for Angle, who essentially lost the street fight with Wolfe via ref stoppage. Eric Young was DQ'd for Steiner's interference. If you're suspended without pay, how are you present on TV? I guess TNA went the route WWE allegedly did with Randy Orton when he worked unpaid through a suspension. So then, what becomes of Homicide, who blatantly mugged West cameras present? Last week, TNA boxed itself in with a DQ in a cage match; its "loophole" explanation made the Brits look stupid. The Kong-Tara saga upstaged a fairly fun Knockouts match. Lacey really needs to not do the chokeslam; that one was just awful. But the Tara-Kong upstaging was nothing compared to the ever-present "Hogan coming up" plug. After tonight's show I swear I'm going to be dreaming about Hulk Hogan. Hogan, Hogan, Hogan! It's like something out of a bad Brady Bunch episode! And I'm sorry, TNA. I don't buy snake oil. Trust me, Rhino, I'm hearing you loud and clear about your conspiracy theories. Let's see who gets bumped to make way for The Hulkster, who let it be known in his press conference he wants ring time.
Steven Loncasta of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (2.0): Best Match: None. Worst Match: Knockout match. Frankly speaking...a horrid show. Hopefully Hogan will ax Russo so there are at least some wrestling minds backstage. With Russo and Ferrara on the creative team, it's not hard to see why TNA is in the spot it's in. I used to be a huge fan of the Knockout matches, but not anymore. Even TNA has killed my interest in them. Kong looks like a big dummy, they screwed up Angelina Love's visa, and Lacey Von Erich is the worst right behind Hemme. So, good-bye Knockouts. It was good while you lasted. The show was rushed and I didn't get involved in anything including the Hulk Hogan build-up. Hogan, as great as he was, is 15 years beyond his prime and this is coming from a company that is touting their 'youth movement.' ... I miss Don West. I miss the Mafia. I can't believe TNA spent a whole year building the Mafia and them dumps them like nothing. No feud, nothing. This episode of Impact just didn't make sense. Note to TNA. Tell the head writer he needs to take beginner's creative writing. Tell him he needs a reason for things to happen. Better yet, tell him he's fired. TNA should have aired this show on Halloween Night. It even scared little kids.
