Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.0): I'm not giving a best or worst since nothing extremely major stuck out. However, there were things that I did notice. Despite being decent matches, the crowd didn't really seem to get into the Swagger-Primo and Ryder-Reks matches. In both cases, Primo and Reks were given little build toward the match for anyone to care about them. It's even worse for Reks, who was booed on a rally. Why hasn't he been given more TV time for fans to get to know him? With a new champ on Raw, Superstars is about a good place as any for building toward Melina's first real title challenge. Looks like Alicia may be getting another chance at the title. No complaints about the possibilities with Melina thus far. The main event from this week of Hart Dynasty vs. Cryme Tyme is getting a bit tiresome in terms of the feud, but the matches are still fun. The big problem is...where do all these guys go from here? Truth and the Harts have the best advantage of the bunch having also been in the seven-on-seven Raw-Smackdown match. Too bad nothing was said about either of them here.
Justin James of Columbia, S.C., IT professional/author (6.0): Best Match: Cryme Tyme/R-Truth vs. The Hart Dynasty/Mike Knox. Worst Match: Kelly-Fox. This was a decent episode of Superstars for what it was, but it was lacking in the booking department. The Primo-Swagger match was pretty good given the time, but it lacked emotional energy. Swagger is a heel, so it is hard to cheer for his winning streak, and Primo hasn't been on TV in forever. Primo is obviously being considered enhancement talent at this point (not sure if that is better or worse than Carlito's total absence), so the Swagger win was telegraphed. It's hard to care about this match with no story behind it other than Swagger's streak. I would match rather have seen MVP-Swagger, Bourne-Swagger, or Cena-Swagger (they had a great match on the Draft show), or something that builds up a story to get Primo back in the game. The announcers stunk. I loved it when they said that it would be a huge win for Primo if he beat Swagger. Hello? Wasn't Primo a Unified tag team champ a few months ago? Kelly-Fox was pretty abysmal. Kelly Kelly has improved, but she still isn't consistently good. Alicia Fox has come a long way, but she can't carry Kelly Kelly like Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix, or another veteran can. The Rex-Ryder match was well done. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Tyler Rex is being wasted with a lousy gimmick. He has phenomenal athletic talent, and his in-ring work is very nice to watch. But he has zero character and is never given a chance to build it. Ryder really shined in showing that he could beat a large opponent and not make it by the skin of his teeth. Finally, the tag team match. Solid in-ring action, as always. Adding R-Truth and Mike Knox didn't change the main story, though. How in the world are The Hart Dynasty heels? D.H. Smith, the "big man" on the team, is 240 lbs., that's about Ted DiBiase Jr. sized. Not exactly huge. But they keep putting him against Shad Gaspard at 300 lbs. Meanwhile, Tyson Kidd goes up against JTG, we're looking at a 30, 40 pound difference. The Hart Dynasty doesn't even cheat anymore. They don't attack people from behind. Other than breaking up pins, they do not do anything that any face team wouldn't do. As far as I am concerned, The Hart Dynasty deserves a gold star and an "A for effort." Watching them against Cryme Tyme week after week is starting to feel like a less gimmicky version of Hornswoggle-Chavo. They need to invent a new tag team for these two to wrangle with. Now that DX has been moved into the WWE Championship picture, I say it's time for Cryme Tyme or The Hart Dynasty to go after that tag team championship, and move on.
