TNA Impact Reax #1: "The episode-long Hogan build-up made me think that I shouldn't care about anything else on the show" Oct 30, 2009 - 12:05:27 AM
Alex Mobley of Louisville, Ky. (6.5): Best: nothing. Worst: Mick Foley/Abyss. I think the show was and okay show. There was nothing great and nothing to horrible except the Mick Foley and Abyss storyline. I'm tired of it already and it hasn't been going on all that long. Everybody remembers this all started over a picture. Uhhh. Anyways, the show wasn't terrible, I was hoping that they wouldn't shoot the gun already on Angle and Wolfe. That being said, the dubbed commentary was pretty good and the Hogan thing was okay. I'm just burned out on the whole Hogan signing already. I mean, what's he gonna do without the legdrop? It won't be the same, but maybe I'm wrong. Once again, an okay show, but nothing stood out.
Luke Fleeman of Tulare, Calif. (3.0): Best Match: Team 3D vs. MCMG. Worst Match: Six-Woman Knockout match. This company needs more ex-WCW guys like I need another hole in my head. When I saw that the three-way championship feud was actually being developed, I was happy, and I thought it was fine until the silly backstage mystery attack that looked like a skit on a comedy show. Classic Russo attempt to make good backstage segments that are failing. None of the matches were long enough for me to care about, and none of the segments were really interesting. There was a constant stream of angles that didn't arouse a lot of concern from me, mostly because they were rushed at me. I usually like the Knockouts matches, but this was a bad night. I thought Christy Hemme was the worst female wrestler ever, until Lacey Von Erich came along. But the real reason I didn't care about the show was because the announcers essentially told me only the Hogan video was important. The episode-long Hogan prep made me think that I shouldn't care about anything else. Every angle, even the World Title, was downplayed against Hogan. I guess we should get used to it.
