WWE Hell in a Cell PPV Reax #1: "I don't want to watch 45 year old balding geriatrics acting like teenagers wrestling." Oct 4, 2009 - 10:42:50 PM
David Miller of Terre Haute, Ind. (5.0): Best match: DX vs. Legacy. Worst match: R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre. Probably three out of my five points go the main event. WWE needs to scrap the idea of specialty PPVs. Hell in a Cell officially jumped the shark tonight. First of all, having three HIAC matches on one PPV completely watered down the concept of it being a special match. I realize WWE has gone PG13, but three HIAC matches and no blood whatsoever makes about as much sense as non-alcoholic beer or decaffeinated coffee. DX vs. Legacy was a great match by virtue of the sheer drama that unfolded. Taker vs. Punk was just there. Orton vs. Cena would have been much better had they added the stipulation that these two never be seen in the same ring together again. I mean, what's next? Orton vs. Cena in a spelling bee? Or have they already done that, too? Morrison vs. Zigler featured two guys destined for greatness. Too bad the quiet Jersey crowd couldn't have cared less. I'm still scratching my head over WWE's decision to push Alicia Fox over Gail Kim to face Mickie James. The tag match was good, but nothing we couldn't have seen on a Friday night. If I want to see R-Truth vs. Drew McIntyre, I'll watch Superstars and not pay for it. The triple threat match was good. It's nice to see WWE resist the urge to pass the U.S. title around like a hot potato. Overall a very average PPV. Not bad, but I'd recommend waiting for the DVD to come out and paying about 20 bucks less.
Michael of Los Angeles, Calif. (2.0): JeriShow vs. Mysterioids and Morrison vs. Ziggler scored two points. WWE is booking themselves into backruptcy. I witnessed first hand how WCW booked itself out of business and WWE is currently on that path. Anyone who watched how WCW fell cannot argue that WWE is currently making the same mistakes. In a time when people can and will stream PPVs and when your shows are going head-to-head with the NFL, you simply cannot continue to not build up your future. Everyone who is involved in the business knows this and talks about this and yet Vince is evidently oblivious to it. I am done ordering PPVs and am done going to bars to pay to watch them. I don't want to watch 45 year old balding geriatrics acting like teenagers wrestling. How are we supposed to take Legacy serious when they couldn't beat ONE guy 2 on 1 in a Hell in a Cell? Seriously answer me that.
Mike Omansky (7.0): Best match: Cena-Orton. Worst match: Ziggler-Morrison. Very solid show. Orton needed the decisive win and was the right way to go. I was surprised by the Undertaker opening match title win -- well done. Show & Jericho had great star power with the crowd, and all 4 men were solid in a very entertaining tag team match. Expected much more from Ziggler-Morrison, and the live crowd was asleep through almost all of it.
