Raw Reax #1: "This was lazy booking at its worst and horrifyingly compelling evidence that WWE does not take its audience seriously" Sep 28, 2009 - 10:52:52 PM
Marty Sheehan of Wilmington, Del. (1.0): Best Match: None. Worst Match: Take your pick. Al Sharpton, though smartly used sparingly, was awful when he was on camera. DX and Legacy gave us the same promos we've seen ad nauseum. Chavo told us two weeks ago he gave up with Hornswoggle, yet here they were again. And let me get this straight. John Cena survives beatings from Jericho & Big Show, yet recovers to take down Orton? Why are we supposed to order this PPV again? As for Orton, we've seen guys have their heads rammed repeatedly into a cage and come back to win. Orton gets dropped gingerly from a fireman's carry position onto his back and he's rendered unconscious? And what was Orton running from? He's faced Cena many times previously and is scheduled to face him at HIAC...and he runs away from a beaten down Cena tonight? With each passing week, WWE makes another, stronger argument to ignore Raw.
Brian Harmon of Saint Paul, Minn. (2.0): Good Lord. Most of this show was just garden-variety boring, but the ending of the main event was unbearably ridiculous. After being beaten down by each of the tag champs in succession, with both applying extended finishing moves, we're supposed to believe that Randy Orton is suddenly scared to death because Cena brought a cage down. How exactly does that mean that Orton was outsmarted? And how is it that Orton is out of it after one bodyslam, with Cena standing tall after the beating from Jericho and Big Show? How stupid do these writers think we are? It's fine that they wanted Cena standing tall prior to the PPV, but can't they do it without defying everything that even remotely resembles logic? This is lazy booking at its worst and horrifyingly compelling evidence that WWE does not take its audience all that seriously. Good luck with the PPV, guys. At least things can only get better from here...
