WWE Raw Reax #2: "Henry's move to Raw was a bit of a surprise; his apparent face turn was a bigger surprise" Jun 30, 2009 - 11:28:40 AM
Terrie Neilson, Las Vegas, NV (5.0) Best: Orton's gauntlet. Worst: Triple H vs. MVP. Teddy Long apparently isn't the only one with the motive of "desperate times call for desperate measures." It's not too hard to assume that Vince not completely retracting everything Trump "booked" could be explained as being contractual obligations for the buyback. I strangely was hoping for a Batista turn when he was brought out as guest GM ("guest host" is BS). It would ease my headaches as to why MVP and Miz get buried if he had. The Cena-Miz match is the match that should have been on Sunday in terms of time spent. Even if Miz were to lose two straight, the second match (which told a good story of Miz's amped frustration and aggression) would have furthered Miz's progress along. I really don't want to be a Triple H hater (or a hater period), but the Hunter-MVP match could have been so much more. I could have accepted a loss for MVP if the match had gone longer, but it seemed no longer than Cena-Miz at The Bash. Then there was the 2-for-1 eye-roller that this match with Triple H was MVP's most important career match. A champion vs. champion match against Orton isn't? If you say so, WWE. And is it just me, or has Triple H's head not been tested since his return from an RKO and Punt combo? I did notice the heat on Hunter for some of his offense (before sweetening took over) and "whoo" pops for MVP's figure four. There was also the lack of "Miz Sucks" chants, coupled with no loud dueling chants for Cena. Working on time delay I can never tell if what I get is legit, but these odd observations make me wonder about whether MVP and Miz are truly lost causes. Bourne and Swagger being traded to Raw was sweet. Both lost to Randy in ways that fit their characters. Bourne's loss doesn't seem as much a burial yet because his most signature moves were left out of the match. Henry's move to Raw was a bit of a surprise; his apparent face turn was a bigger surprise. Can't tell what the true crowd reaction was with everything shot fairly close, but didn't hear obvious sweetening. It will be interesting to see how Atlas will or will not figure into WWE TV now.
A.A. Norman of Tulsa, Okla. A word on the women's division - do you know why audiences don't care? They don't have a reason to. Divas aren't given any time to show off their character to audiences. Hell, they don't even say what the diva's hometown is when they play their music! I think back to the way the women's division used to be, when you had the conservative "you're all wrong" diva (Ivory, later Molly Holly), or the punk chick that wore baggy pants and a thong (Lita), or the muscular woman who would take on anyone, including the guys (Chyna) or the Canadian one that would get ahead by getting with the boss (Trish Stratus), or the one imported from WCW that would tease crowds while dancing (Stacy Keibler). It is sad what things have turned into. If you're going to give the divas ring time, why not give them some promo time too?
