WWE Superstars Reax #1: "Jericho deserves credit for his interactions lately with R-Truth, Dirk Ziggler, Morrison, Rey, etc." Jun 12, 2009 - 1:54:00 PM
Craig Bursch of Duluth, Minn. (7.0): Best match: Jericho vs. Morrison. Worst match: Raw divas tag team match. I am giving the Raw portion of the show a half-point as the divas appeared to be working hard. The ECW match was fun to watch and a good showcase for both Evan Bourne and Zack Ryder. I truly didn't know who was going to win and enjoyed the back and forth nature of the match. Two points for the match and a bonus point for the clean finish. The Jericho-Morrison match was also a fun contest and gets three-and-a-half points. Specifying the match as "non-title" gave me just enough doubt that the outcome surprised me a bit. Morrison may have lost, but he looked good in doing so. Jericho had to cheat to win, but it was a competitive match and hopefully we see more of these two in the future. Jericho deserves quite a bit of credit for his interactions lately with R-Truth, Dirk Ziggler, Morrison, Rey, etc. He truly is the "face of Smackdown!"
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best: Jericho vs. Morrison. Worst: reminder of the bad taste in my mouth from Monday. This week's episode of Superstars was one of those where it was a nice little show, but nothing to really say "wow" about. With less than three weeks worth of build to get to The Bash, you'd think Superstars would be a more crucial seller. If Beth was such the big deal that Lawler and Cole put her over to be, why wasn't the Divas title substantially in the discussion? U.S. champion Kofi Kingston got a nice video package; with Jericho present, both mid-titles had good representation. The matches tonight looked a step off, as if everyone's equilibrium were out of whack, which took away some from each one. Outside of the "buy the replay" plug, there was no mention at all about the shocking development of Punk cashing in on Jeff Hardy. Ross and Grisham were well-focused on Jericho-Morrison, which is perfectly fine. The problem I see with not making more mention of the cashing in was the major imbalance of the return of Triple H. The Raw replay was a glaring thumb in the eye: how can Hunter cause a "no contest" when the booked opponent never made it to the ring? He himself didn't make it to the arena in the time left (two seconds) for Batista to answer the count. There seemed to be no acknowledgment that Batista sent Hunter in his place. And worst of all, Hunter isn't even the reason Batista never showed up in the first place. If only the matches were better to offset this migraine-inducing moment.
