WWE Raw Reax #4: "I was excited for Miz-Cena - I like the way they're building this feud and I don't want it messed up" Jun 9, 2009 - 1:12:22 PM
Craig Bursch of Duluth, Minn. (engineer) (3.0): Best match: Tag title match. Worst match: Whatever that crap was at the end. I am giving this episode a 3.0 as I enjoyed the short doses of Maryse and the tag title match. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Miz-Cena situation. I am definitely intrigued by the fact that the Miz didn't back down from Cena, but instead was fired up and ready for the match. He wanted to beat up Cena and was angry at Big Show for taking away his opportunity. Well done. However, the rest of the show as a mess. Am I supposed to like Edge now that he crapped on Vickie? Or dislike him? Who is the champion? Why wasn't Randy Orton arrested for first degree assault? He broke Batista's arm in front of millions of witnesses and didn't get arrested. It just makes no sense. Raw used to be a must-see program but now it is the fifth best pro wrestling show on free TV.
Bonnie Svitavsky of Puyallup, Wash. (4.5): Best match: Primo/Carlito Colon vs. DiBiase/Rhodes. Worst match: Goldust/Festus/Santino vs. Noble/Kendrick/Guerrero. Great ... Triple H is back. How demeaning was it to have him slowly walk down to the ring, and yet he managed to always be fast enough to avoid Legacy's chair shots? I knew that Triple H was going to be back eventually, and that he would take the wind out of things instantly, but this was still worse than I had expected. He managed to easily take out Legacy, something Batista couldn't manage earlier in the show, leaving Rhodes and DiBiase on the ramp for several minutes after just one hit each. And he didn't even need a hammer for Orton; that's how amazing Triple H is. Yeah. So, if he's so amazing, why wasn't he there earlier to help out his buddy Batista? And if it wasn't bad enough that he demolished the big heel group of the show, he also belittled Miz's "devastating" attack on Big Show and Cena earlier with his numerous chair shots to Orton. Why is Miz a heel for an attack like that (which I was totally in favor of) and Triple H is a hero for pretending to try and snap Orton's neck with a chair? Announcing tonight also seemed really bad. Lawler and Cole frequently said how this was the most devastating, amazing, drastic Raw they could remember. Really? I did enjoy Mickie's correction for Cole on the Divas title - that was awesome. But it was another time where I thought the conversation was awkward and unfocused, where the announcers weren't sure if they should be talking to Mickie or talking about the title match. And speaking of awkward, that whole bit with Vickie and Edge was just ... uncomfortable. I was excited for and dreading the Miz-Cena match. I like the way they're building this feud and I really don't want it messed up. I wish Cena hadn't given a clear promo afterward. It would've been nice to see him a little woozy from the choking/chair shots. But I hope this keeps getting built/teased for good results. This was probably my favorite part of the show. I guess I'll stick with Smackdown!
