WWE Raw Reax #3: "The burial of Orton and Legacy was sealed with an exclamation point" Jun 9, 2009 - 11:16:22 AM
A.A. Norman of Tulsa, Okla. (8.0): Best: Miz's shirt. Worst: Legacy opening. First off, here's wishing Vickie Guerrero well in her future endeavors, but not in the same way that the WWE dumps talent. She really brought something to the show that it was missing and reminded us all of adult authority figures in our childhood that annoyed the heck outta us. I know that the crowds soundly booed her each and every week, but I hope she knows how much crowds will miss her when she's gone. Second, when will Miz's shirt appear on wweshop.com? I can think of a few thousand "Cena Sucks" chanters that would purchase one in a flash (and I've seen homemade ones like it in the crowd). His "tool time" promo was perfect. Finally, the beat down to open the show was annoying. Why would you need to taken to the hospital in a stretcher if they broke your arm?
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (3.0) Best: Orton gets some of his heat back. Worst: Orton RIP. I will admit I came into this show in a foul mood. After posting my PPV reax, I read that Batista was injured going into the cage match. Why in the hell would you put a title on someone who's already injured going in? Someone had to have known. In comparison, with news of Jeff Hardy's injuries (happening Sunday night) I can understand Punk being impulsively plugged in to cash in (if that is what happened). The wrestling for the most part wasn't the best all night, save for Legacy vs. Colons. I don't think the whole Vickie Guerrero story is totally over, especially only two months removed from JBL leaving in the same fashion. Taking the belt off Edge was probably intended to finish that storyline off (for better or worse) since they are on two different brands technically. Show-Cena is probably one match left from finishing so tonight was hopefully the transition episode leading to Cena-Miz. Miz chairing away at Big Show was the "about damn time" moment in the storyline fork in the road. That needed to happen to keep Miz from being forever buried. I wish I could say the same for Orton, and to a degree MVP. With Batista gone, a title-less MVP seemed right on the cusp of breaking the glass ceiling. With Triple H's return, the ceiling just broke on MVP's head. A friend of mine pointed out that Hunter does indeed have a re-match clause since he was taken out in the Backlash PPV match that he lost it in. Okay, fine. So why isn't the belt back on Orton for him to use it? The count was stopped at eight when an ambulance arrived, which apparently deemed that Batista was returned to fulfill the stipulation of the match. When Hunter stepped out instead of Batista, why wasn't the count finished, awarding the belt to Orton since Batista failed to fulfill the stip? Even as Hunter was stepping toward the ring, there should have been an announcement of the forfeit. As it was, the burial of Orton and Legacy was sealed with an exclamation point, as well as a straight-up chairshot to the head. Tonight's Raw left me with a worse taste in my mouth than the PPV, if that's possible.
