ECW TV TV Reax #1: "Dreamer standing tall for two segments set his destiny in stone..." Jun 3, 2009 - 10:45:02 AM
Craig Bursch of Duluth, Minn. (7.0): Best match: Kidd vs. Christian. Worst match: None really. I love this show every week! Good matches, good promos, great play-by-play and color commentary, simple booking, no McMahons, no backstage b.s. I particularly enjoyed Kidd vs. Christian match, especially since there was outside interference finish to the match, but there really was not a low point in the show for me. I don't think that Tommy Dreamer will win the ECW Title belt, so it was nice to see him win his last match on ECW television. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Mark Henry vs. Evan Bourne "falls count anywhere" match added to the upcoming PPV as a result of the last two weeks of Bourne's somewhat fluky wins over Henry. Matt Striker continues to be the best "color commentator" on pro wrestling television today. I often wonder if he gets more freedom being on the "C" show than he would get on Raw or Smackdown? ECW has quickly become my favorite hour of pro wrestling each week thanks to Christian, Mark Henry, Evan Bourne, the Hart Dynasty, Finley, and Jack Swagger. Keep it up!
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (9.0): Best: hardcore match final build. Worst: dead crowd. I wondered aloud about "invisible wall" Tony Atlas in my Raw review, then lo and behold Tony wasn't so invisible tonight. But this sudden appearance and attention to him tells me that Tony is about to join Dreamer on his way out the door. Kinda buries Bourne when most of the focus was on that story and not what the crowd wanted - Bourne's high-flying. ... I will give props for there even being an explanation why Zack Ryder was facing off against a particular jobber this week, even though the story was pretty lame. Dreamer did get in his last TV match against Burchill, and it was reasonably good. The match was followed by a nice tete-a-tete between Swagger and Dreamer. While Christian was expected to win, Tyson got in plenty of offense to make himself and the Harts look good. Swagger and Dreamer getting involved was expected heading into the home stretch. Dreamer standing tall for two segments set his destiny in stone. Swagger will be moving on to Finlay after the promo the Fighting Irishman gave. Christian retains, but who he moves on to is anyone's guess. And the non-nerd Striker's attention to detail continues as he corrected himself on the 33.3 percent - 66.7 percent stats on Christian's ability to retain.
