WWE Superstars/TNA Impact Reax #1: "I'm not sure why WWE decided to book this show backwards, but it wasn't a good idea..." May 15, 2009 - 12:10:09 PM
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (6.0): Best: Mysterio vs. Benjamin. Worst: Show vs. Hornswoggle. I'm not exactly sure why WWE decided to book this show backwards, but it wasn't a good idea. The Show-Horny "exhibition match" didn't do much for Show except to say he is intimidating. And this is relevant to Cena how...? The Christian-Henry match wasn't that much better but Striker's commentary about the notes Swagger may and should be taking elevated this match. Rey vs. Shelton was a decent match that moved along the Rey-Jericho build and the Benjamin-Morrison feud. Morrison came across very convincingly as a face. He's talking relatively the same talk but like with MVP it is being delivered with face mannerisms. I'm sure, though, I'm not the only one having just a tad bit of trouble trying to connect the dots on how Morrison is suddenly no longer vain. But if that's the only qualm I have in Morrison's push then I can get past that issue.
5/14 TNA Impact Reax
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best: Jarrett home movies; Daniels-Suicide segments. Worst: Mick Foley's DVD; Where is Cornette? Tonight it was clearly The Jeff Jarrett Story in terms of the final opponent for Sacrifice match. There were the "Cross The Line Cam" videos featuring him at home to serve in place of the usual "Rough Cuts." I can go with this since the "Rough Cut" for Jarrett would more likely be tidbits from his DVD. The home movies portray Jarrett as normal and level-headed compared to Foley's chaotic behavior. The whole "Is Daniels Suicide?" angle has turned into good cover to the fact that we're simply about to see a five-way re-match for the X Division title. They did well to come oh-so-close to a reveal before bringing out someone (Kaz?) to show Daniels and Suicide are not one and the same. The "you owe me one" can be taken as either thanks for keeping the charade or needing an explanation for taking the heat of being labeled Suicide. I'm not surprised Kip got the "one more time" treatment with Kong. But where was Cornette to come out and tee off on the man-woman violence? West claimed that Kong is a special case, I presume because of her size. Even Mick Foley wasn't there to address this match. Cornette - and even JB - weren't there to question Foley's booking of Eric Young vs. Samoa Joe. No one even addressed the issue of what to do with the stolen Feast or Fired cases. I didn't like the fact that Jethro (Murdoch) was jobbed this early, but it's early enough that a right push can balance this loss out. The match also killed the mystique of the "I Quit" match, usually a long violent match. Nash didn't look well at all in the ring. He came down the ramp tired and/or sick. He even looked out of sorts during the MEM promo. Finally, what was so disturbing about Mick's DVD? It's just a beat down of Jarrett, and not a really good one at that.
