WWE Superstars/TNA Impact TV Reax #1: "WWE is trying too hard to convince viewers that DiBiase is becoming a mirror image of Orton..." May 1, 2009 - 11:45:44 AM
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (6.0): Best: Guns vs. Suicide/Red; Guns-Daniels promo. Worst: Angle storming Mick's office. While it was never officially announced, I'm assuming by all the video packages that Angle is among Mick Foley's next opponents for Sacrifice. Kurt willing to lose his leadership of MEM is a good impetus for being in the match. Either he wins or is not the one pinned in the match, as I don't see his status changing. I'm also assuming that Jarrett is pouting because he couldn't oust Mick. But champs have been stripped of titles in the past, so I think Jarrett went for too high a goal. The Guns served a nice dose of a good, fun match, and a sweet promo with Daniels. Should I guess that Kaz is about cleared for takeoff under the mask, and Daniels is buying the time till that reveal? I am surprised that Curry Man wasn't brought into the discussion. The stretcher match served its purpose of getting heat back for Kong, and it came back in spades with the "one more time" on the Awesome Bomb. Since the Impact Zone is so small and the ramp is a high incline, the ten count rule didn't bother me. What I'm hoping won't happen, (but I could see happening) is Rayne thinking the better of being a part of Beautiful People. Deaner-Abyss was a "dumb fun" match; the premise was stupid, and these two in the ring were put together randomly. That said, I was amused by the talk of Deaner's less-than-spiffy ring gear. While I'm not keen on Matt Morgan offering himself as part of Main Event Mafia, his promo was one of his best since arriving at TNA. I should have seen Sting coming as often as he was mentioned. What messed it up was the attempt to swerve with Lashley. Foley looked to be hiding a new signee in a space that probably couldn't even hold Amazing Red. Sting would hardly be a new signee and there was nothing about the papers being re-signing papers. The end was just poorly done.
4/30 WWE Superstars TV Reax
Terrie Neilson, Las Vegas, NV (6.0) Best: Bourne vs. Burchill. Worst: too many videos. Considering the consistent but low numbers Superstars is getting, the transformation from special show to Heat/Velocity has already begun. The long stretches of videos between matches took a lot of feel out of the matches themselves. Alicia Fox being drafted to Smackdown was explained; her inexplicable heel turn was not. If the M.I.A. D.J. Gabriel is off TV, her ditching an unfocused loser to become focused on being women's champ would be an easy transition. The divas match was okay, but far from perfect. And Gail Kim...how the mighty have fallen already. Bourne-Burchill turned in another nice match. Bourne effectively sold a leg injury with the Shooting Star Press, as he barely tapped his left foot to the rope for the takeoff. DiBiase-Carlito was a decent match that looked like it ran out of gas near the end. And WWE is trying too hard to convince viewers that DiBiase is becoming a mirror image of Orton. Nice try, but DiBiase was wearing the same black trunks, pads, and boots before he crossed paths with Orton. His moments around the ring aren't even close to the same as Orton's. If he were using the same moveset and finisher as Randy, then I could go with it, but until then, WWE needs to stop laying
it on thick.
