WWE Raw Reax #2: "The show was good ... but a big step down from last week's great show."

Marquis M. of Shreveport, La. (6.5): Best match: Fatal four-way. Worst Match: Battle Royale. Opening segment was very good and logical, aside from Rey's limited mic abilities. I would like to see something to this feud besides Knox randomly beating up Rey every week. Punk vs. Rhodes was pretty good, but the finish made Punk look stupid and did nothing for Rhodes, once again. But at least Regal and Punk had some interaction to add some heat. The cheap shot at Adamle was crappy. WWE should be taking cheap shots at themselves for hiring someone like him in the first place. The battle royale was horrible, but that's most battle royales. Melina winning was no surprise given that Trish wasn't involved :-(. Post-match segment was excellent though, starting what should be a good storyline with Rosa. By the way, methinks Candice isn't too far from being endeavored. Sim Snuka vs. Haas was only four minutes but felt more like ten. At least a Legacy member finally got a clean pin for a change though. Ten-man tag was harmless, inoffensive fun. Manu has potential to be an excellent worker, but his weaknesses were revealed tonight. He's got horrible stamina and showed a great deal of fatigue after only a few minutes. The main event ran a bit too long for a free TV match, but it was pretty decent all the way through. The ending was rightfully milked for all it was worth. It's still hard to buy this angle, but I still got drawn into the story being told. And the live crowd, which was dead through most of the show, helped make this segment twice as good. Overall, I was underwhelmed. The show was good because it built toward next week and the Royal Rumble, but a big step down from last week's great show.

Adam Riemer of New York, N.Y. (3.0): Best: hmm...Jericho's promo? At best, Sim Snuka's development. Worst: Cena's promo/Michael Cole in general. This Raw was not the worst in the last six months, but it was pretty bad. It was bad because it was really bland and felt like a lot of filler. My number one question is this: How can Randy Orton hold try-outs when he himself ate a superkick and lost pretty clean? The Sim Snuka progress is okay. He definitely has the look, and he is more menacing than civilized Umaga: Manu. I still say that Legacy should be wearing suits all the time. John Cena continues to make me feel that TNA's Main Event Mafia is fresher than him, and that is really bad. His Harry Caray/Michael Cole impression made me turn off Raw for a little while, as his promo was forced, his acting was terrible, and he continues to be the most "pushed-down-our-throats" wrestler I have ever seen. Speaking of Michael Cole, he also is a reason why I am really starting to hate Raw. He called Randy Orton a viper and made snake references at least 50 times in a 30-second period of time. Who continues to think that Cole is good at his job? The main event finish was too long, and I already don't care about this HBK broke angle. How is he going to get money unless this storyline lasts at least five years? It's stupid and we all know how it's going to end - HBK quits by superkicking JBL some time in February, which will eventually lead to their pay off in a true "Money In The Bank-Briefcase" match at WrestleMania.
