WWE Raw Reax #1: "They could have really played to the kids by having Cena invite Duggan to team with him and Batista."

Matt Johnson of Norway, Mich. (7.0): Best Match: Miz & Morrison vs. Punk & Kingston. Worst Match: Santa vs. Ziggler. The writing team sure likes writing storylines for Kane. At least in WWE, unlike TNA, the guy abusing women is a heel. I hope Kane gets moved to Smackdown. Coincidentally, I don’t currently get Smackdown on my local television package. Good idea changing Deuce’s name. What would be interesting would be Snuka partners with Knox, instead of the Orton group. Duggan has awesome facial expressions when he plays the sad victim. Does anyone else think Dolph Ziggler looks like Eddie Graham? Handicap matches really demean the team with the advantage. Unless they are complete chumps they should dominate the team with only two men. They could have really played to the kids audience by having Cena invite Duggan to team with him and Batista. It could have taught kids about including other kids who are by themselves on the playground. The main event did its job and elevated the Legacy group as a legit threat. Decent show.

Art "Bucky" Blarr of Buffalo, N.Y. (6.0): Best Match: Miz & Morrison vs. Kingston & Punk. Worst Match: Ziggler vs. Santa. I thought the best comment of the night was right after Michael Cole said that Dolph Ziggler deserves coal for Christmas, and Lawler shot back: "Nobody deserves Michael Cole." (True, as I thought his announcing was worse than usual last night). Anyway, after an above average PPV last night, I felt this follow-up show was a let down. The Divas match was only a set up for an ongoing storyline with Kane and Kelly Kelly that was pretty dumb. Yesterday, I said the JBL/Michaels segment should've been on Raw instead of the PPV but I didn't need to see the same exact thing again. Thank God for the great tag match with Miz & Morrison vs. Kingston & Punk, as those two teams really work great together. Kingston and Morrison were incredible with their performances. The main event was okay, but Manu & Rhodes in a main event just doesn't cut it for me.

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.5): Best: Miz/Morrison vs. Punk/Kofi; Michaels Armageddon promo replay. Worst: some loose ends. I didn't get to see Armageddon, but by the looks of the recaps, I would have wanted to see it. The aftermath from it on the Raw side, mixed with some new stuff, was nicely done. The Kane-Kelly story was nicely told, though it had a deja vu Kane-Matt feel. Miz was the surprising target (I also thought he was going to target either Punk or Kofi), and could prove an interesting wild card in the Michaels-Kane match next week. I'm just hoping it doesn't lead to a Miz-Morrison split. Deuce gets a slight repackage that could move him in with Legacy but not seeing it happen. It was just an easy device to set up the
Rey-Knox post match. Steph is still a heel GM with much subtler motives, as she scolded Jericho for his mocking of Duggan then quickly followed up that Duggan was meant to be a squash opponent for him in the upcoming contenders' tournament. At least there was follow-up there. Also two match decisions weren't announced: Jericho apparently lost by forfeit but no official word was given or assumed. And I'm guessing that Cena/Batista won by count-out. Again no official decision was announced or assumed. Now, it did play on Sunday, but I gave Best Segment nod to Shawn's Armageddon promo for two reasons. First, it was a first-rate delivery to a tough crowd. New York's crowds are notoriously "smart" but they chose instead to forgive the plentiful flaws of the storyline and follow the story. And second, there were visible sections in the Pittsburgh crowd tonight that did the very same thing with the Miz/Morrison-Punk/Kofi match that sections of the Buffalo crowd did with Shawn's promo: applaud the performance, even though in both cases the heel won the moment. The crowds chose to just enjoy what they were seeing and not get caught in the logistics of things. With four matches already in the build machine toward Cena's next opponent, next week is already off to a good start.
