ECW TV Reax #1: "Striker and Grisham didn't gloat about their Slammy win; they went back to work and showed why they earned it."

Curtis Setter, Torch reader: Since when did Koslov become a member of the ECW roster? this crossover crap is not helping ECW at all. I know ECW has a paper thin roster, but do you need Smackdown or Raw wrestlers taking spots that could be used by ECW talent sitting at home doing nothing? To quote Helms: "I am just saying."

Harley R. Pageot, Torch reader: I thought they announced Jack Swagger as number one contender last week. So why wasn't Swagger vs. Hardy already scheduled for the pay-per-view?

James Caldwell's Response: This is probably the classic WWE example of being as vague as possible on when #1 contenders actually receive their title match so they're not advertising a match ahead of time. It's similar to last week when Finlay accepted the tag match of Hornswoggle and himself vs. Henry & Atlas. It wasn't clear when the match would take place, but they merely established an acceptance of the offer. The actual "carrying out" of the deal was never specified, allowing WWE to be completely vague.

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.5): Best: Miz/Morrison vs. Yang/Funaki. Worst: Boogeyman vs. Reed. If I took the crowd into consideration, the score would be much lower. And it would not have been the fault of the wrestlers because there was effort being shown. Dreamer getting creamed by Kozlov, then Swagger forwarded the Dreamer-Swagger feud by a few inches, and gave us a Hardy-Kozlov rivalry to chew on. Kozlov made a sensible challenge to Hardy as the story of their last match was the clock and not themselves as opponents. This is also the second time Kozlov has made a challenge for a match without stipulations in recent time. ("No more triple threat!") He's no dummy, and the opening attack on Dreamer reminded fans of the threat he can be. Matt followed through fine saying that he is confident he can win without the clock in play, which sets a new story for the next Kozlov-Hardy match. Miz/Morrison get a double Whammy after the Slammys: two wins for that gold, and a nice fun match to boot. There looks to be a potential turn for Tony Atlas, as Henry was being a total jerk, both in the promo and during the match. Boogeyman is headed for "Future Endeavors," mark my words. The main event had to deal with extreme talent limitations, but all four went out of their way to get the crowd involved. Striker and Grisham didn't gloat about their Slammy win; they just went back to work and showed why they earned it. The Slammy replays chosen were the ones I would have played if I needed those highlights, so ECW came, saw, and did what it was supposed to do.
