Patrick Michael of Rochester, N.Y. (4.0): Best: Dreamer vs. Swagger. Worst: D.J. Gabriel vs. Some guy. Another throwaway show, but how can you really build around a roster of three or four regular wrestlers when most of the talk centers around Raw at this point? Tommy Dreamer vs. Jack Swagger was a nice trip back to the late '90s WWE-style garbage matches. D.J. Gabriel, though, has more of the early '90s feel of forcing lame gimmicks on someone that obviously does not look the part at all. D.J. Gabriel is a good worker but the gimmick just kills his image once the match begins. Lastly, I thought Finlay vs. Mark Henry had the potential to be good. Finlay is still capable of carrying Mark Henry to a decent TV main event but the non-finish just killed the show. The rest of the show was nothing of note and did nothing to build towards the rapidly-approaching Armageddon PPV.
Art "Bucky" Blarr of Buffalo, N.Y. (7.0): Best Match: Swagger vs. Dreamer. Worst Match: Henry vs. Finlay. I would've given the show an 8 or an 8.5, but the main event brought the whole show down for me. The opening extreme match between Dreamer and Swagger was a good match. The only thing missing was hearing a few "Oh my Gods!" by Joey Styles. Miz & Morrison are well on their way to becoming the D-Generation-X of this generation. After about a year, ECW has finally replaced Kelly's Expose with a new dance team - D.J. Gabriel & Alicia Fox. I was glad they received some mic time, as this will help improve their mic skills and bring out their characters. I liked the idea of the Jack Swagger interrupting Matt Hardy's promo. The promo took me back to the days when promos didn't always take place in the ring. The main event was awful and I don't understand why every Finlay TV match has to be so long that they need a commercial in the middle. I understand Hornswoggle is popular with the kids and he is probably the reason Finlay stays afloat on TV, but give Finlay a two-minute squash match so he & Hornswoggle can dance around and keep the kids happy. Finlay should not be in main events.
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (7.0): Best: Dreamer vs. Swagger. Worst: Alicia/Gabriel promo (delivery). Just your regular effort by ECW - not that there's anything wrong with it. The Dreamer-Swagger Extreme Rules match did what it was supposed to do - put Swagger over. He stayed in character during the match, taunting Dreamer wherever possible. They didn't have too many continuity issues during the match, and there didn't seem to be obvious edits to cover weak spots. A Swagger-Hardy feud could be helpful to Swagger, but without needing to put the belt on him. It's far too soon to do that. Might be worth the time and finances to institute a new belt for ECW. Boogeyman is taunting heels again; back to square one until he gets in the ring again. He now has teeth, which just seems so wrong for the character, but for the man it was probably necessary. D.J. Gabriel really needs a new gimmick; this dancing one's killing him with the crowd. The post-match interview with Alicia was absolutely brutal, but at least there was a fairly plausible explanation for why she was with Gabriel and not Edge. The Finlay-Henry wasn't much to write home about, but there was a good story regarding the shillelagh attached to it. I'm guessing Henry won by DQ as no official decision was rendered before heading off to "Chase." Strangely, I liked how ECW played to the "linger until we can't stay on anymore" moment. If only there was reason to do that more often.
